PS - I also meant to ask -
Several posts refer to converting the files on your ipod from aac to mp3 in order to use B&M.
Can anyone give me a bit of guidance how to do this as I can only find an option to convert them the other way? I note you can buy software to convert aac to mp3 is this necessary?
Thanks.

I did this by going to the Sony web site and downloading the tool from them, it was easy !
The tool found all the aac files and copied them as mp3 in another folder.

Re: Blue & Me - Tech Info

well i have the samsung d500 with is listed as a potentialy compatable phone.
This works with the system i.e i can make and receive calls but i am unable to transferphonebook contacts to the car and the sms reader does not work either.
I think this is due to the samsung d500 having bluetooth v1.1 and to get full compatability you need blue v1.2 or above.
can some one let me know if this is right as my contract renewal is up in a month so looking at which new phone to get to be compatable with myc ar :)

Well I have a Samsung U600 and the bluetooth version is v2.0......and guess what??!! The message system still does not work...... not very much impressed with this blue and me thing....

iTunes can do this conversion for you. Go into iTunes' preferences and click on the Advanced tab, then click the Importing tab.

Change the Import Using to MP3 Encoder and select the Setting aka. Audio Quality to the one of your choice like below:

Click OK and then go to your Music Library. Select the songs that you wish to convert (or all of them if you wish) and then go to Advanced (in the Menu Bar this time) and select Covert Selection to MP3:

The conversion process will begin and you can check progress by click on the Converting... icon that will appear in the Playlists list.

Please note:
This process will not work for songs that have been purchased from the iTunes Music Store (.m4a format):

Also, even though I have used a Mac for the screenshots, the process is exactly the same for iTunes for Windows. Hope this helps a few people out!

P.S. I'm hoping to get my Grande Punto Dynamic Sport avec Blue&Me ordered this week!

Hello,

I own a Fiat Bravo Emotion T-JET 150HP.
I have a Blue And Me on board but somethimes I get in troubles.

1.MP3 Player:

Some tracks cannot be played! I'm a big fan of Depeche Mode, and the album called Songs Of Faith And Devotion are not seen by my mp3 player on cd nor on memory stick.
I tried encoding the album using different codecs at different bps, variable or fixed bitrate! Not a chace! I tried also playing changing file names. Is not working!
Well.. let's forget about this.
The most important thing is my bluetooth connection.

2.Bluetooth connection with my Nokia E65

My paring goes without problems. If I'm calling someone, this can hear me, and I can hear him through my loudspeakers...but only somethimes.

In many cases the connection is made (i see it on the car display) but my dialogue mate cannot hear me and I cannot hear him, even I try to use my phone.

I don't know if it is a issue of my Phone or is a blue and me system problem.

Everyone has experienced same problems?

I also own a SE Z800i, but is allready old and if I try use it with blue and me, allways ask me if I want to trasfer the call to the car. Well in that case, is useless for me. I want to avoid pushing a button on the phone.

What should i do?

(The message reader is not working, but I know is not suported by my phone)
Any ideeas?
Thank you

I always seem to have this problem on the first call I make on my SE K800i once I have got in the car. I call someone, hear the system dialling and then silence. However on calling the person back they have said that I have called them.

It also causes my phone to restart, which is a pain in the arse! I've ended up just pulling the battery out my phone, putting it back in and then trying again which always works.

I think its caused by the B&M not pairing correctly first time when the car is started but I could be wrong!

I'm going to try and let the car pair first before starting the car and see if that makes any difference. I thought I had figured out what was causing it but have completely forgotten what it was :bang:

No I mean it dials...and then complete silence. The call doesnt seem to connect at my end, but it does for the person who I called! They can talk and I cant hear them, I can talk and they cant hear me....then my phone restarts!

But as soon as I take the battery out my phone, put it back in, switch on my phone and let Bluetooth connect again, I can make calls without any problems! Its weird!

But i do think there is a cause of it, I've just got to figure it out!

Same in here somethimes.
Some new updates for the Blue And Me System?
I cannot use the system.
I wonder why I paid such a price for this extra optional.

I've been having problems since a flat battery, with the No English message. I tried installing the software (taken from Fiat.com), but get an error message saying "Error 30".

Any ideas, or should it go back to the dealer?

Just bought a new Bravo. I want to change the language from english to spanish. I downloaded the relevant files from the web site and installed on my pen drive. The web site says I should key off & on before installing in the car. what does this mean as I cannot install in the car.
Regards

Got my t-jet the other day.
My Nokia N95 8gb works great with it, had to manual copy the contacts over and the messaging doesnt work but all other functions work great.

Regarding the usb pen drives.

I had 2 generic usb pen drives, copied mp3s and placed it into the usb reader in the glovebox. They all read ok and played the mp3's but after turning off the igniton and switching it back on i got the 'no media' problem and the only solution was to unplug the pen drive and plug it back in.

Purchased a 4gb Kingston Traveler pen drive which came today and this works without any problems, much faster and select tracks and reads no problem after switching off the ignition.
I think if your having problems with a pen drive its well worth getting a known manufacture one and id really recommend the Kingston at only £13.

How do you manual copy your contacts over because I have tried so many times and to no flippin' avail and its frying my brian

I'm having a couple of issues with my B&M:

1. The system recognizes and plays music from the MP3-player/USB stick. BUT I can't browse through the songs (the up/down-buttons don't respond). Also I can't access the menu (no response from the menu-button either).
Note that these functions/buttons work fine when I play audio- and mp3-cd's and use the radio.

2. The Windows-button doesn't work at all.

Maybe these problems are related to each other, I don't know. Has anyone else had these problems? If so what have you done to fix them?

P.s. I've contacted my FIAT-dealer but they don't have time to have a look at the car until next month.

Hiya

Sounds like you need to reset the system, quickest and easiest way is just undo the neg batt terminal and leave disconnected for 5 mins and then refit, and all your blue and me ill's should be cured.

Battery terminal? What and where is that? Could you explain a bit moore to a noob like me? I'm sorry, my English isn't perfect.

I took mine into a dealer today because My bluetooth is showing the "no english" error and I can't access the menus, etc. After keeping it all day, they say they need to order a part - a conversion kit - and can't fix the Blue&me unitil it arrives. This all stemmed from when I had a flat battery (I think). Dealer being daft?

If (as it appears) you are using the Nokia N95 8 gig then try the following,

1. pair your phone (when paired it will ask if you want to download your contacts), this will fail and the system tells you how to do it manually.
2. Which leads on to the answer to your question.... scroll through the Blue & Me menu until you see "Settings", then select, scroll through to "add contacts", this is where you need to use your phone menu.
3. On your phone go to "contacts" and select "mark all", then in "options" (usually bottom left) scroll through to "send buisness card", select this then "send via bluetooth", your phone will search for devices , once it has found B&M press "send", this should send all your contacts from your phone to your B&M system, once they have sent (you hear clicks for every contact being sent(y)) press the bottom right button on your steering wheel.....job done!!

Sorry if this is a bit long winded but it does work honest.
