I think I've got the same problem.. My yellow warning light the (triangle with the exclamation mark) is on constantly and when I changed my break discs and pads not long ago I noticed that there was a random wiring hanging and taped up behind!<br />
I'm well annoyed as I've been sold a Punto that's just going badly wrong and have no Warrenty left! I have my first mot (since I bought it) next moth and dreading it.. Plus being a woman they think they can take the pee with their quotes! Well annoying! <img src="/images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" smilieid="11" class="inlineimg" /><br />
<br />
Failed the MOT because the light was on. Fault code read off-side front sensor. So they ordered one and replaced it today. They still couldn't get the warning light to go off. He said the fault code is showing as the same. He said we can try the bearing and hope for £80 or take it to a specialist but he said they'd probably charge £80 just to look at it.<br />
<br />
He also said something about the metallic strip as when it was on rolling road the right hand side doesn't register a speed?! So he said it's definitely that side of the car, just can't pinpoint what it is.<br />
<br />
Anybody had similar happen, any ideas?<br />
<br />
Before taking it for the MOT is was on intermittently, but mostly on.<br />
<br />
Cheers

was this wire on the left hand side?

did you reconnect the pad wear indicator cable when you changed the discs?

is the ((abs)) light staying on along with the /!\ light?

It was on the frontside passenger and it had been cut and taped up.. No abs light on which I thought would have come on but also had no warning to say my discs/ pads were worn apart from starting to hear it.. I'm a newish driver so still learning too!

I have A dynamic, basic spec ! Ill get it checked out!! It did randomly run out of oil a couple of weeks ago but with no sign of leak so who knows! Loads gone wrong with it since I got it in may!

did the light come on after the oil run low?

They can use a bit of oil my 1.2 used to have a slight drinking habit once in a while but it wasn't predictable

the handbook
The maximum engine oil consumption is usually 400 grams
every 1,000 km.

so thats about 350ml to 400ml every 600 miles or so given the car only holds about 3 l its worth checking every week if you do a few miles

things like low quality oil or hard driving will see it drinking more

how long since the car was last serviced?

If the oil run low enough till the red light came on i would be tempted to put fresh in and a new filter as the remaining oil would have been working very if you dont know when the service was carried out hard (less oil = increase in work and heat its exposed to)

Car was services in May apparently.. I reckon it's maybe somethin to do with the oil sensor as I wasn't given any idea the oil was low til I checked and there was nothing! The light had been on and of for months and sending me a bit mental. Ta though ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1363909179.075797.jpg

I'm trying to ignore it although my MOT is on Thurs so don't want it to just fail coz that light is on!

Sorry for reigniting this thread.

Did you get this sorted for MOT?
I have the same problem, yellow triangle and says - Hill Holder Unavailable.

Got pulled up for this on MOT last Fri and know that the regs have changed for MOT dash lights.
Retest for MOT this Weds (2 days) so trying to get it sorted!!!

Any ideas on Hill Holder?
I do remember that there was a frayed circular bit of tubing about 4mm in diameter on front left that was sticking out ages ago when I first got the car just under 2 years ago. That has long since gone so might be that :confused::confused::confused:

I've got the MOT re-test today, going to get the garage to scan and hopefully clear the codes for me.

Will make note of the code that they get as well when they do it.

I've bought the below on eBay, hopefully get rid of anymore niggling codes I may have lurking in the future:

What's MES??? :confused:

hi , good luck with the test..!!,
should be fine..,

that scanner is Engine ONLY, so airbags, PAS, etc you will have to pay somebody, or upgrade your kit..,

I had a good engine scanner too - but when I had air-bag trouble I went for the MultiEcuScan, as it's free ..you just buy some leads for @ £20 / £30,

the free version has it's limitations but diagnosed my airbag issue.. so the leads have paid for themselves already...!!
just bear in mind the MES is FIAT/ ALFA specific..that's why I went for the free version !,

the leads are universal = the OBD2 industry standard,

Awesome advice, cheers man! (y)

MOT Passed

£7 for them to plug in diagnostics and clear the fault on there, but they broke the clips of the cover panel - great.... lol!

Multi ECU scan?!?!?
Need to get me that! If it'll get rid of this reoccurring problem I'll defo go for it!
Will it work with Macbook OSX though? Or is it Windows PC specific?
Got a link for those wires, thinking of defo getting one! CHEERS FOR YOUR HELP!!! (y)
