as the title says anyone know the size on the 1.2 8v alternator lower pivot and upper pivot bolt? someone said 17mm, can someone confirm this? thanks

A = 2x 17 for me
B = was sloppy at 17, so i make it a 16mm
C = Again sloppy, so i make it a 16mm
The only 16mm i have is a spark plug tool.... Im pretty sure old mk2 was 17mm all around

cheers ziggy, ill go with 17mm seeing as mine is mk2, any idea on crankshaft tdc sensor? bolt size, or is there a way round of not removing it ? im not one to cut corners but if there is a way round it then it'd save time.//

its either a 10mm or 13mm
its easy to remove
Remove bolt - and gently wiggle it out
Dont pull on the cable, pull on the housing
Ensure the hole is cleaned before refitting sensor tho

just picked up a new drive belt from eurocarparts for £5.52 bargain
online price though, just about to get my hands dirty

so she finally has a new alternator belt on now
but the horrid state of the old belt worries me how long its been on there
id say its has to been on there more than what haynes state 12,000km? any thoughts on this

More likely to slip? The belt part is fibre reinforced
so she finally has a new alternator belt on now

surprise it wasnt slipping but mind you i did have a nice hissing sound coming from alternator with old belt on, new belt on, its nice and peaceful

that picture doesnt show all of it, its actually frayed a bit....i dont have wire wheel at hand if i did i would of dis-missed buying it and replacing and left it longer...
