Have come up against a massive issue with the injectors on my ducato panel van and wondered if any one else has had the same problems?
It went in to fiat "professional"(using the term loosely)at Imperial Comm's in Derby with a glow plug control unit fault, the van was 2 weeks out of warranty but as fault was found on previous visit they agreed to fit 4 new glow plugs and a control unit under warranty.Left van with them and got a call 3 hours later saying a glow plug had snapped off in the head and the head has to come off to have the plug machined out and they would cover cost of work to the head. Then get a call to say that they can't get one injector out because its "rusted in solid" and that its got to come out to get the head off to do the glow plug and that its a possibility that it could wreck the hole head in the process!
I bought the van when it was 1 year old and whilst on 1st visit to fiat i checked out recalls etc and was told it had the waxing job done on the engine so my arguement with the dealer was if it has been done why are the injectors rusted in? The dealer's telling me because i've now done 98k fiat dont want to know?
just wondered if anyone else has had any similar problems?:bang:

Hi
One of the two problems with the early X250s was with water pouring into the engine compartment from the windscreen scuttle ("watergate") & filling the valley between the two camshafts where the injectors are located with water. The result of this was rusting of the injectors amongst other things. Newer models are being fitted from the factory with a plastic cover over the engine to stop the water entering the valley - the problem with removing the rusted glow plug is most likely also related to this problem.
The recall or "fix" by Fiat apparently was only for the owners that complained & I assume that the waxing was to prevent the rusting if water entered the valley but if it had already started before the waxing was done then it's too late & this problem might be quite common in the future.
