All models need to be checked with a watering can. Bet your injectors are flooded with a leak from the windscreen. Contact Fiat and complain pls!

Engine bay water ingress

I have had my 2007 Ducato for just one week. The seal that sits between the windscreen and scuttle has badly deformed with a resulting half inch gap. Rain is pouring through this onto the engine, the injectors are sitting in rusty water. Looking at the Forum on motorhome facts.com this is a common fault on the new Ducato/Boxer/Relay. Will have to see what the Fiat Agent has to say.

There is a join(or should be) in the water well at the bottom of the windscreen. Rain is constantly dripping on the injectors and electrics.
The local Fiat dealer will not accept it as a fault.
23 other owners that I know of disagree. See attached document!

The injectors are rusty, the water sits contantly in a well at the top of the engine and water pours on the electrics...it's just a matter of time!

There is large well in the engine top.Far too much water to evaporate especially with contant stream of rain water. Plus most of the time the van sits rusting on my drive, the injectors and electrics submerged in water.

Re: Engine bay water ingress

This is a BIG problem for motorhomes both Fiat and Peugeot!!!

Also the supply of parts is also another LARGE problem. I wonder if the quote below might jog someone into action in trying to source a BSI Unit for a vehicle which has been offroad for 5 weeks after our owning it for only 5 weeks!!!!

"Regarding spare part process , your previous mail consideration is absolutely correct .
In case of a problem immobilising a Motor Home , there is a special process to speed up delivery including taking the part from the production if no other solution .

For your Motor Home the spare part will be delivered in UK within a couple of days.

We will track a quick repair.

The problem we will analyze is the reason for the mismanagement of your case in order to avoid the same disagreement ."

I do wish that the quote from the MD In Charge of Commercial Vehicles to the Motor Home Industry were true!!!!!!

Re: Engine bay water ingress

I am soon to collect a new motorhome on the NEW Fiat Ducato 130 multijet engine.
I am VERY concerned about this water ingress/leaking into the engine bay and onto the injectors and wiring and the rust around the injectors.

We are all spending a considerable amount of money buying our motorhomes and having to go back to the dealers several times to get this problem rectified is just not good enough. With all this water getting onto the injectors and the rusting etc may cause problems in the future when the Fiat base vehicle side is out of warranty.

I also feel FIAT is very slow to acknowledge this issue thus causing GREAT anguish to people concerned.

I agree it just is NOT good enough. I am getting a NEW Multijet 130 in Sept and I am VERY concerned about this matter. I shall be doing the water test BEFORE I purchase the motorhome. I will REJECT the motorhome/FIAT 130 Ducato if I find it has the problem. I will NOT continue with the purchase if it has this fault.

Vote with your cheque-books and FIAT will get the message, cancel any purchases and go ask serious questions at dealers in a loud voice, write to you local press for the Motoring section, anything, but dont just keep on buying. As long as punters buy they wont do Jack sh*t in my opinion, judging by the experiences of FIAT car owners on here.

Re: Engine bay water ingress

I purchased a new Fiat based Motorhome on 3/8/2007. All seemed well untill the downpour this weekend. THERE IS A GAP BETWEEN THE WINDSCREEN AND THE RUBBER SEAL. I now have water pouring into the engine compartment along the length of the windscreen. Do FIAT actually read any of these comments????????

Re: WATER INGRESS - NEW FIAT/PEUGEOT etc

billyboy07,

I have a 2003 2.8jtd, but if you look back in the postings history for a couple of months or so, you will find a long running discoarse on this water leakage problem due to a poor design of sealing strips and mouldings.

Re: WATER INGRESS - NEW FIAT/PEUGEOT etc

I am, and considering I spent 27 k on a motorhome brand new in march, fiats attitude stinks, I have rusty puddles all over the top of my engine and electrics, which is also causing a misfire
