Hi There,

Still not resolved the problem with losing all power plus engine management light when applying throttle on motorway gradients (see earlier thread).

I plan to have a shot on the Fiat garage fault code reader, but my gut feeling is that the turbo isn't working that well.

I've got a theory that perhaps if the exhaust system became partially blocked (maybe a sooted up or partially collapsed catalytic converter), then the turbo wouldn't run up to speed and the MAP sensor would generate a "low boost" error and shut everything down?

Can anyone give me some more gen regarding the catalytic converter on a diesel multipla - is it the fat chamber directly after the turbo (on the engine down-pipe)? I can't get the covers off for a closer look (nuts all seized up).

Do they have some kind of differential pressure sensor to indicate they are getting blocked?

Is a catalytic converter sometimes called a diesel particulates filter (DPF)?

In my previous thread I listed all the stuff I've already checked - the EGR valve sounded a likely contender, but I cleaned it and it works fine.

I'd really like to hear if anyone has had problems similar to this.

Many thanks,
Pete

I had the same problem's everytime i went over 3k rpm or tow something the engine light woould come on,i used some injector cleaner and problem solved, might be worth a try as it could be a cheap fix (y)

Hi people im new on here, couldnt finf the right place to ask my question so here will do. I have fiat stilo 1.9 jtd i bought about 3 weeks ago now. 2004 reg. Im after a manual pdf or otherwise. cant seem find one any where CAN ANY ONE HELP.

Is the car short of power below 2,000 RPM needing you to change down a gear at all? If so, as a long shot, try looking at & thoroughly cleaning or change the EGR.
You can buy a Gendan code reader for around £30 which will read the EOBD2 codes the ECU has stored, that should give you a pointer.

Mine does this! Exactly the same. Ive had it scanned before and im sure it was an over boost problem. Its either the over boost switch not working properly, possible wiring fault feeding the switch from the ecu or simply an air leak somewhere? Ive still not figured it out, I will get round to it but ive done many miles with the problem, it just makes me drive slower and more econmicaly! It also does it in 3 rd and 4th over 3000rpm. Anything under load. Smokes a bit too when it does it.
