Technical Sky Roof Not working!

If it doesn't work....then what else could it be:rolleyes:
You're always saying get to talk to the tech guys doing the work and that's what I've done. Thought you might have something to say about 2.45 hours for a 0.33 hours job. You're pretty sure they wont make a hash up of it then

So.... what's this other possibility.....the one that's rather nasty ?

No need to remove roof lining to change the motor, its a 20minute job!

Correction 1.85hour job,I forgot I done first one after another tech already removed the switche/sun blinds etc. There are a few short cuts though;)

Well if its not the motor or switch control panel its the sunroof mechanism, however i'd tend to 'sway' towards motor.

In case anyone was wondering what's happened in over a month then here's the answer:

I'd booked the Stilo into a local dealer who had experience of changing the sunroof motor and had a hire car prepared and everything set including warranty cover.

A couple of days before taking the car in I decided to give the sunroof a good clean (read about it here)

No particular reason - just assumed they might take more care if they could see it had been looked after.

On the arranged day drove the Stilo to the garage which was about 30 miles away and decided it would be a good idea to get the sky-port into the fault condition which normally happens within a mile or so. This I failed to do and on arrival the sky-port was still working perfectly :bang: Had a bit of a chin wag with the dealership who suggested I'd just fixed the problem without realizing it.

So T14086i, it looks like your suggesting of cleaning the sunroof was the answer all along :worship: In this case it wasn't the slides but the actual felt layer which the glass slides over which needed to be cleaned.

I don't want to shout about this too much as there's always a chance the problem might return but so far it's looking good (y)

stilo sunroof not working

I have a fiat stilo 1.6 active with a panoramic sunroof. I have had it 3 months and the roof is still not working. I have replaced the motor and put a new switch and nothing! Any suggestions please!!

Re: stilo sunroof not working

Not sure if it's anything like my old Punto's roof (I know there are differences as yours is multi-panes). Anyway, the Punto had a slot to manually turn it if the motor has jammed or anything. Mine broke by the carwash drier pushing out a small pin stopping the mechanism from going back more than 2cm. I found pusing back in the pin solved it.

Re: stilo sunroof not working

Hi, thanks for your reply. The sunroof does not open at all, not even with the emergency 'key' located in the switch box. It has got everyone baffled!

Hi, i'm having the same problem with my stilo sunroof. I have had the motor changed and the switch and still it doesn't work nor does the blind. Help!!

I don't understand why anyone would change the switch & motor if it’s not even possible to open it manually

Re: stilo sunroof not working

I seem to remember (I could be wrong) when mine went a bit odd that there is an overload sensor that stops your kids chopping their heads off in the sunroof. Maybe it's this that's causing the problem. Surely you need to check if volts are getting to the motor/switch before changing them ? The whole roof was changed in my 3-door Stilo under warranty after a fault. I think the list price of the sunroof alone was about £1200.

Re: stilo sunroof not working

Motor and switch were changed by garage i bought it from, i wouldn't have paid that kind of money without being sure. Also an electrician has looked at it. In the hand book it says about the anti trapping device and tells you to press some buttons which doesn't work. When i press the circular switch in the middle it clicks! Does thast mean anything?

Re: stilo sunroof not working

yes, thats the one. Unless i did it wrong, it didn't work.

Re: stilo sunroof not working

Have read all that and tried the button thing but it just clicks! How do you lubricate it when it won't open?

Not had any experience of this but I'd agree - more likely to be a fuse.

The init sequence is very simple.
  1. Turn switch to closed position
  2. Press in and hold (like an oven control) until you hear two clicks (the roof will shut if it's already open).
  3. Release and push in again and hold (within 3 seconds).
  4. The sunroof should fully open and fully close followed by two clicks as before.
  5. Release the button and it's initialised
Did the blind work before?
Have you tried the remote?

omg i love you so much! thank you the reset worked! im so happy thank you:) i cant thank you enough! thanks:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
