They have to give you statutory sick pay at the very least if your a full time worker. Do you have a contract with them which mentions sick pay.

Another reason for you to find out if the bearing failure caused the accident and get compensation for loss of earnings. I normally hate ambulance chasing, but compensation laws were bought in to protect people like you who have had a genuine accident and it's also why companies have to have insurance for it.

Keep your spirits up, your new car will be here on Friday.

Just to let you know your not alone, somebody we know is a dog handler in the Police and he was chasing a stolen car. Unfortunately he hit a deer and lost control causing him to roll into a ditch. Both his dogs shot through the perspex cage divide between the cab and straight through the windscreen. Amazingly they were both OK, but the dogs were so protective that the fire brigade couldn't get to the car to free him until another handler arrived to secure the dogs. He had to be cut free (2 hours) and had some neck injuries which means he is in rehabilitation for 7 or 8 weeks.

I've just read this and the thought of what could have happened horrifies me :(

Remember Sammi, a car can be replaced or repaired, but you are totally irreplaceable. I hope you are recovering nicely and it isn't too painful :)

You and I have never had the chance to meet yet but I'm sure we will soon.

God bless you Sammi.

Complete crapper about sick pay. Hope you can get something sorted. If you decide to go the no-win-no-fee route let me know. I can recommend a good solicitor (shame I don't know any good divorce solicitors though  )

Doc must think you need the rest if they've given you 3 weeks off work. That's quite a long time. Make sure you DO get plenty of rest etc.

Got the ball rolling with all this....

Had a bit of a shock last night, my dressing was comming off my arm so tried to fix it, i realised when i touched my elbow i couldnt feel a thing, i felt sick!
i tried touching it with a pen and still couldnt feel anything so thought i'd speak to the doc in the morning to find out how long it would last...

Went to the docs today and told them about it, they said if i havent got feeling in it now than it is unlikely i would get it back at all :(

They think i could have severed a tendon, I was well gutted :(

sammiboo you do know there are no nerve endings in your elbow anyway right? its because its an active joint so they were killed off when you were young as i beleive... shouldnt worry to much your probably just freaking out a little.

Just read what happened now, glad your ok and it's only cut's & bruises, but damn shame about the car!

What will you be doing about Gaydon now, I guess ur not going or will you be there with Gaz?

Anyway hope you get on the mend asap and about your arm, I agree with bulldog, you might be freaking out abit as you are still in shock and just wait another week to see if any feeling comes back and if not then its a small amount to pay for staying alive! After seeing the car I think maybe someone up in the sky likes you!

Regards

Adam

Why does my elbow itch?

Sorry to hear (and read all 6 pages) about this. Glad you're ok and I hope you can get it all sorted out as best it can be :(

Only saw this thread now... glad you weren't too sriously hurt... sorry about the car.

WRT feeling in your arm, I can share this: I was in a bad motorcycle accident a couple of years ago and one of my injuries was to my knee. The tarmac had scraped all the skin off my kneecap and shattered it, just for good measure. I lost all the feeling in my knee and could also poke it with a pen without feeling it.... but, a couple of weeks later the feeling started coming back slowly, and by the time my wounds had healed, most of the feeling had returned.

I wouldn't worry about it too much... your body has a way of sorting itself out. Good luck with the recovery! (y)

there must be feeling in your elbow, i just pinched my other one and it hurt!

Cheers agian guy, i think it might come in useful not having feeling as you said steve ;)

As for Gaydon, if i had my way in all honestly i wouldnt be going, but i dont want to let anyone down so its business as usual.

UPDATE:

Well i am back at work now, yesterday was my first day it was a bit weird but back into it now, i have been suffering with my back and feeling tired though. Also where all the scars are on my arm it has been painful when working on the computer and leaning on the desk, i need a gel pad type thing to lean on

Anyway.... The car

I had a phone call today from the independant investigator, he asked me a few questions about the car and stuff i have had done to it.

He thinks the fault lies with the fitting and the garage is quite possibly to blame, but he didnt want to make a definate yet until he has investigated further.

He noticed i had new breaks and pads, on the offending side of the car where the wheel came off he noticed that the break pad had been wearing unevenly, there were groves in it, and he said this added to his suspicions the bearing was incorrectly fitted. There should be just a little even wear.

He is looking at the car again tomorrow.... so it continues...

I thought i better keep you updated

Good news that your back at work sammi :) Nice to have something to do again i guess.

Good luck with the car, even though its awful to think it was due to poor fitting :(
