Morning all,
My 1.2 8V MK2B has had two issues recently
Firstly it's been a crap starter when cold, it would fire up but not idle unless you kept your foot on the throttle for about 5 seconds, then it'd be fine. It's been like that for about 18 months. I took advice in here and cleaned up the throttle body, that helped a little but wasn't a cure.
Secondly it started to reset the time and trip computer after every journey, I'd read on here that it could be a dodgy earth but couldn't be arsed to grovel about cleaning it.
Anyways, last bank holiday weekend I went up our local tip to dump some rubbish, the queue was rather large so instead of keeping the car running I stopped it and it wouldn't turn over afterwards, luckily enough I bumped her and away we went, she'd been fine since then. Last Thursday I went out to start her and there was nothing.
Rather than mess around with fault finding I bought a new battery. Popped it on and that has resolved both the starting and trip / time rest issues!
So there you go, if you got either of those issues and don't know how to fix it, try a new battery (if you don't know the age of yours especially). :slayer:
