Hello everyone, I have a Punto 1.2L Sporting and it is Automatic, year 2001.

Last few months when I'm driving after at least 30 minutes I have these weird problems. NEVER HAPPENS IN WINTER, only in Summer.

1) the speedometer starts to jump up and down them goes to ZERO but speed it normal

2) the odometer is jumping up and down also when the above happens, and finally,

3) my steering wheel goes very light as if I have pushed the City Button and is quite hard to control.

Any suggestions as to what I should start checking? Here in Greece we don't have a lot of mechanics that know about automatic transmissions.

Thanks for your time

if the power steering thinks you are not moving or moving slower then it becomes unnaturally too powerful
when you say odometer are you actually referring to the digital kilometres that is jumping up and down?

I mean the odometer which is on the left on the below photo not the digital

so it seems you are referring to the rev counter or tachometer.

The rev counter data comes from the crankshaft and the speedometer data comes from the gearbox sensor if it is fitted or ABS.

I think you might have an earth problem.

By saying earth problem, you mean wires problem? I need to see an electrician?
