Hi, Its my first post, so hello for all :)

Im from Poland, my name is Marek and my english isnt very good so in my posts can be some language mistakes.

I have Punto MK2 from 2002 year, engine 1,2 8V
Today I check the adjustment of valves i my car. Its look that:

1v: 0,50 adjusting plate-4,07 (mm)
2v: 0,45 ap-4,12
3v: 0,50 ap-4,25
4v: 0,35 ap-4,15
5v: 0,50 ap-4,12
6v: 0,45 ap-4,15
7v: 0,40 ap-4,20
8v: 0,50 ap-4,07

What is property value of valve clearance for this car, and what plates i must buy?

Marek, can't help in Polski, but the "adjusting plates" are called "shims" in English (and even in American).

The clearances should be 0.4 inlet, 0.45 exhaust with a tolerance of 0.05mm.

So, if the clearance is too big, you need a bigger shim, if too small, a smaller shim.

Generally you'll find that you can move most of the shims about:it's rare to have to but more than 2 or 3.

Thanks for reply , in that i should change only 4 and 5 shim.

In Poland a most of people adjust:
int: 0,35+-5 ex: 0,45+-5
or int:0,25+-5 ex:0,45+-5
This values are printed in 3books about repairs Punto2

Exhausts are the same, but intakes haves big difference. It could be that for Polish cars haves smaller clearances?

I have rattling valves, very rattling.. so i think that i have to big values, and in my opinion property values for me probably is about inlet:0,3mm, but its different that you say. I dont know what to think about

I have got 2 books about maintenance of Punto MK2 and mentioned clearances are for intake .40+-.05 and for exhaust .45+-05.

I think the Mk1s have wider clearances than the Mk2s (and, then, there are different clearances still for aftermarket cams).

Still, as a general rule, a little noisy is safer than absolutely quiet.
