Hi all,
recently bought a 37k 2004 Punto active sport 16v.
Only bought it as a run about for work after selling my 3 series.
I have to be honest after having it roughly a week im enjoying it quiet a bit, fairly nippy around town and not bad at all on the quicker roads.

So with me only planning to keep it 3-6 months i thought im not going to mess or meddle with it.

But already i think i want a new hedunit as the power output and radio reception is very very poor on the standard setup.

Lowering, cant help but think being a bit lower would help handling a little and also make it look better.

What are peoples thoughts?

I would add a picture but not allowed to yet :(

use the attach

feature and it should work

as for the headunit it can easily be replaced to standard when it comes to selling time and then you have a spare head unit to do what you want with it

lowering you could allways put some sporting springs on which are slightly lower then then standard punto and should help with the handling

Go for it. You might find you'd like to keep it longer than that if you make it more fun to use.

Headunit. If you do change it, keep the original, so that when you sell it you can just stick the original back in and either keep or sell the new one to get some cash back.

I've been told different things regarding suspension. Some say it does help with handling, but others have said the opposite. I think the common lowering height is between 25-40mm drop. Does look nice, but needs to be done by a garage as special tools are required.

You could, if you wanted, look at the focus induction kits. Don't cost alot (£35), and the sound enhancement and speed increase can be very fun at times. Get's rid of the car's crying noise (to me, when I took mine to 20mph in 2nd, it would make the noise which makes you want to change gear ).

Nice one
heres the yellow peril

im 27 so thought my modifying days were through.
Usually lower every car i have. havent bothered with headunits for last 3 cars, last setup i had was a double din touchscreen dvd/sat nav job.

I love it, it was a case that i sold my bmw for 6.5k and the father in law let me have this for £2k. Didnt really want it but i have enjoyed every minute of owning it so far, hence me thinking improve its looks with abarth skirts, 30-40mm lowering and a good headunit.

It has a full service history and was serviced just before i bought it off the father in law.

I have emailed a few people about side skirts as i feel it would match the rest of the car as the bumpers are pretty sporty.

Wheels - what options are about as ebay has thrown up very little? is it a limited market?

Very nice motor pal personally i wouldnt even touch it this is the car for me when im abit older same car same colour :yum: think your right with the skirts... £2k is a bargain!! you not thinking about de-badging it or anything? but i like it very much

No not debadging the car
im reluctant to do anything as its had 1 lady owner from new and is immaculate. Just wish the CD player gave a bit more as its a bit tinny barely any bass what ever settings i adjust :(

If CDs are rubbish then some head units can work as a pre amp with a power amp elsewhere in the car. Quite handy as the Fiat specific head units are not desirable to the local thieving scrotes and the amp can be hidden..

If its just the radio that's rubbish check out the radio aerial. If that's faulty reception will be poor and soon mess up the sound.

Personally I like the wheels, but you could get them refinished.
