Hi all

I have a Punto Evo 2011 with S/S - I bought it used and have had it a couple of months or so and the S/S system has never worked.

It doesn't work when I stop the car, put into neutral and remove foot from the clutch BUT it DOES work if I stall the car, just a press on the clutch and it's back up and running. Does this have something to do with the neutral switch or something?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Sorry if this is a re-post but I have checked on the forum for a solution to no avail.

I'd check the battery.. SS not working can be caused by a weakening battery, or an incorrect type. There's a lot of electronic analysis to ensure there is enough juice to operate without battery damage, if that's triggered, then the SS will be disabled.

Thats the battery.. :(

Out of tolerated parameter for 'stop'

But obviously ok for restarting.. :)

Or do you live with a 'Tangovan'.. :p

My TA has been like this for 3 of its 6 years.

The Stop would only work after a 2 hour run.. tailing off over a week.

But has still performed the Restart as long as I have needed it.

The batteries are NOT cheap.. buy in the summer if you want to replace it.. 50% savings ;)

The car is full of sensors to monitor the battery, if the battery is not strong enough then it will not stop the car, in case it cannot restart it, when moving in traffic.

When you stall the car will try to restart the car and many cars do this now, just dip the clutch and it will start up again, this however is not really part of stop-start, just something they have included.

Basically you’ll probably need a new battery as the one in the car is too weak to work the stop-start

Thanks all for your help

I will try a new battery as soon as I see a decent sale and post back how it goes in this thread in case anyone has the issue in the future

thanks again
