Hi I'm new here and looking for some help I have a 2011 fiat punto evo it has all the airbag lights and seatbelt light on I am also getting the messages stop start unavailable and fuel cut off unavailable I have taken it to the garage and it says no communication the mechanic said hea never come across this issue before so he would have to do a number of things like taking the airbag out and sending it off for testing which is all going to mount up in cost so I was just wondering has anyone else come across this issue and come give me some information on what to tell the mechanic to do or save me from taking it to the fiat garage?

Have a look in the Grande section.. yellow bit at the top..
Has the FAQs .. random electrical.
Probably either damp fusebox. Dodgy earth cable..
Or even the battery.. does it have Stop.Start.. that actually works..?
Your car is still a Grande underneath..
My 2012 isnt much different to my 2007..
As a cheap thing.. disconnect the negative cable on the csrs battery for a few hours..
It may well clear some of the faults

I have 2010 punto evo and I had airbag light lit and if you unplugged the seatbelt while driving along the belt alarm did not go off , after exhausting every possibility I had to take it to the main dealer and it was the airbag ECU faulty under the centre console.
Thankyou for your reply what did they do in the end I have no idea about cars, did they have to replace it or something else?

The stop start did work untill this problem started, I'll give you abit more info, I was coming down a steep hill someone else was coming up the hill and they had parked cars on there side so instead of waiting she decided to try and fit through so I pressed my break quite hard but because I was on a hill there was abit of an impact then after this the lights came on so the car thinks I have had an accident when I haven't, it's like it's shut everything down because of this and because I haven't actually had an accident the car doesn't know what's wrong which is why we are getting no communication if this makes sense, I have no idea if this is actually the case I am just thinking this

Try removing battery power.. to reset things..
After that.. let us know what is showing.

I disconnected it for an hour as I had to go out so reconnected it but there was no change so I had disconnected it again will leave it for a few hours see if that makes a difference and let you know

Where are you based?
Getting the fault codes read is very worthwhile..takes less than 20 mins..
Also.. is there any form of warranty with the car?

I am in Oldham, I have tryed to have the codes read but when the mechanic tryed it just said no communication so my only option if no-one knows what else I can try is to take it to the fiat garage but I'm guessing that is going to cost me alot

You do need it looking at properly.. but main dealer prices are daft..
Michael Dranfield had a similar issue..
It would be interesting to see what tests he made before it went back to FIAT

Hi,I borrowed a snap on scanner from the garage down the road from me but the diagnostic codes flagged up errors such as seatbelt switch no communication however I checked the microswitches in both stalks and they were ok, another code was front seat occupancy problem but once again both seat connector's and switches all checked out ok, in the end I decided to codes were erroneous and it was most likely due to software corruption in the airbag module and eventually had to go to the main dealer who confirmed the module was faulty and it cost a packet to replace,I did however ask for the old part back for evaluation.
i have the same problem off faults when i went over a pot hole air bag no stop start fuel cut out drives fine but MOT due in a few weeks did anyone sort prob ? place in liverpool £36 airbag mod fix post ...would car still drive if i remove module ? need for work :-(
