Hi guys,

Posting on here as I'm hoping someone has had the same thing as me and managed to find a fix.

My Punto Evo has come up with Airbag and Seatbelt warning lights on the dashboard as well as "Start & Stop Unavailable", and "Fuel Cutoff Unavailable". I had a scan done on it and got the following error codes:
- B10AA
- U1726
-  B1053
- Ignore the daylight code in the attached image (sorted this)

I had my battery changed recently and made sure it was a stop/start battery as the "Start & Stop Unavailable" message was showing beforehand but I dont remember the warning lights being there before this - could it be this that caused the warning lights?

Any assistance would be great on this as garages I've been to have just pushed me away really.

Did the garage run the "proxi alignment" program? It may just have been a case of the battery fitter not following the correct sequence.
Having said that, there are many issues that others here can advise re earthing etc. that can throw up errors related to Stop Start etc.
I did have the U1726 on a daughters 2012 Punto Evo, but that was down to a poorly repaired seat sensor damaging the BCM

Thanks for the quick reply! Im not too sure - I dont remember him pulling out a ECU/OBD scanner of any kind after replacing the battery so would assume not. I got it replaced at Halfords so wouldve thought they'd go through the correct processes.

They should do, as they fit enough, however I believe there are certain protocols that have to be followed as there is a device on the battery terminal related to the Stop Start operation.
I don't know about the specifics , but I am sure other here can advise on it.
Maybe get the "proxi Alignment " run as it should identify all the items that are apparent and working correctly. It cleared many and all the odd error codes that my daughters Evo showed.
The garage Snap On Tool should be able to do that job as that is what I used on her car.

Hi OP,

Did you manage to find a fix? I ask because I'm having exactly the same problems on my 2010 punto evo.

Car wasn't used for a few weeks and after battery re charge I had stop start unavailable message and engine light came. Took to local garage who said it needed a sensor replacing.

Few days later the car wouldn't start and fuel cut off unavailable message appeared. Found the fuel cut off reset button and the car then started but fuel cut off unavailable message remained, along with seat belt and airbag warning lights. Mileage also flashing.

Took back to garage and they said its beyond their knowledge and needs to go to a fiat specialist. Problem is my nearest one is 90 min away (a long journey with multiple warning lights on!) and they won't charge a one off diagnostic fee, instead they charge £130 per hour until they find out what's wrong (said it could be 1 hour or 4 hours!)

The car isn't worth very much so I'm loathe the spend a few hundred on diagnosis to then find out it needs a repair costing hundreds. Has anyone had similar issues and can advise what the fix was and how costly?

@Sar8546 is looking to see if you made progress with your Punto

Lets hope you are making sense of it all :)

GOOD NEWS! Sorry for the late reply but I've only just managed to get this sorted. It was a fault with the Airbag ECU. I ended up taking it out of the car myself and sending it off for repair to a guy on ebay for £95. MUCH better than the £900 that I was quoted by local garages...
