Identification of EURO5 113 g/km 1.2 Engine

Hi,

New to this forum and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have ordered a new Panda MyLife from a FIAT maindealer but have noticed that the order form is for a Dynamic and not a MyLife. The dealer assures me that the vehicle is a PANDA MyLife with the new Euro 5 1.2 engine with a CO2 emission of 113 g/km.

How would I check to ensure that I am not being fobbed off with the older 2010 EURO 4 1.2 engine (119 g/km)?

Are there any distinguishing features on the new MyLife engine and does anyone know what the engine number should look like for the EURO 5 engine?

Are there any body features that are different on the MyLife?

Many thanks,

Rob

Drivers door on the 'B' Pillar there will be a sticker, with engine size and spec (IE, ACTIVE, DYNAMIC, ELEGANZA, MYLIFE, 100HP etc).

Jon.
Thanks robertnw46 thanked for this post

Re: Identification of EURO5 113 g/km 1.2 Engine

Jon,

I have been told that the engine is categorised as a 1.2KL. E5 608.

So I assume 1.2 KL implies 1.2 litres.

Does E5 mean that it will be a EURO5 engine?

And what does the 608 imply?

Many thanks,

Robert

Not quite sure to be honest. I'd deduce similar to what you already have though.

Not sure what the 608 could be.

This is almost right - my wife's recently-bought is described as a 1.1 Active on the door pillar sticker but is actually a Euro 4 1.2 Dynamic - the handbook gives a comprehensive list of the meaning of the engine type prefix, and this can be read off the sticker on the floor of the boot.

What does logbook say in regards to engine size?

Like the performance of the car, it says that it's a 1.2.

So your telling me the car is only 1108cc yet the logbook says 1242. I'd get to the dealer and get them to sort it. Equally what's it insured as? Sounds a bit dodgy to me.

No - I'm telling you that it's a 1.2 Dynamic - the log book agrees with the plate in the boot, which states all the right engine and body types for a 1.2 Dynamic, it has air con/Dynamic instruments and there's no way a 1.1 engine would have the performance that it has - but the label on the door post says it's a 1.1 Active.

Oh right I'm with you, so they've stuck the wrong sticker on it. Its not a 1.1 Active you went to buy then?

No - we tried one but you had to rev the nuts off it to get anywhere, plus the air con is a boon when we're in Italy for several months each year. The 1.2 is quite a nice torque-y little motor that will do 85 all day on the autostrada. It's an interesting thought, though, if there was an insurance claim, insured as a 1.1, and it was found that the car should have been in a higher category, is the customer supposed to be able to tell the difference?

Re: Identification of EURO5 113 g/km 1.2 Engine

As the car has been ordered from new it cant be legally registered now with a Euro 4 engine as it doesnt meet the current Euro 5 regs. Well thats how I understand it anyway so there should be no danger of getting a new car this year with an older engine.
