Clutch pedal

Hello !
I have two little problems :
- the clutch pedal makes a noise when it goes back up, is that a problem, should I put grease ?
- when the clutch pedal is "resting" (normal height), I can lift it up, is that normal ? (I tried in A Tipo but it doesn't do it)

Re: Clutch pedal

Hi there. I had a pedal stay down on my 2017 4x4 and they said faulty master cylinder. It stayed down 2 or three times but came up when pulled gently and did not actually fail totally. Its POSSIBLE yours is developing a fault. On that car and my new one the pedal can be lifted a bit. Not good to lift it too much you could break something or pull the pushrod out of its place.

I understand the Master cyl has its return spring fitted internally rather than being just a spring on the pedal. So if its not coming up fully it could be an issue. In the workshop book for the old panda which is similar it looks straight forward if it has to be changed. Mine was changed under warranty as it was not returning to the correct place and the clutch bite point was wrong. It took less than an hour start to finish.

If the clutch works OK I would leave it alone and just monitor where the bite point is. If this seems OK dont worry too much. Some slack in the system is necessary and a good thing.

There was a thread about this either on the Panda or the 500 section of the forum.

The 500 TA I had before my Panda seemed to have a similar issue. It wasn't really a major problem on mine, just a little squeak. I doubt any passenger would have noticed it. But it was one of those little things that annoyed me, although it didn't seriously worry me. I mentioned it to the dealer at service, and they said they greased something, but it didn't help! (I'm not the most mechanically minded of posters). But I read in the Fiat Forum that someone else had cured theirs, not with grease, but a plastic lubricant.

I was pretty sure it was just the pedal mechanism. With the engine off and drivers door open I got my head down into the footwell and moved the clutch pedal by hand, and it seemed to be the coming from the pedal mechanism, inside the car, not the engine compartment. I never did cure it, but I sold the 500S to get my Panda 4x4 - no clutch issues.
