Introduction

Thought it was about time I introduced Gertie the Posh not Wrecked Panda properly :)

Shonky 'bay photo's on which basis the purchase was made

Vernon will be getting GerTie back on the road restoring him to his former glory :worship:

Keeping it simple and stylish, planning on a decent stereo (seeing as it is hidden in it's own little compartment) and a set of custom carpet mats (tastefully embroidered with the GTie legend) are the only mods planned at present. :)

Feel free to fill in a few more details Vernon (y)
Closer together than a Panda? The amount of times I stomped on the clutch and accidentally hit the brakes at the same time, god know what I'd be like in a Y10

It's the accelerator and brake that are the problem, I'm going to have to make adjustments somehow before John gets his great hoofs near them. :p

Vern.
Make it into an automantic, or paddle shift.
Alfa, Fiat and Lancia are all from the same parts bin
Go on, you know you want to!

Ta Vernon, I had a cinq and don't recall any problems with it, I do avoid driving the Panda in trainers, sensible lace up shoes don't give me any trouble.

The interior looks very good, the instrument panel is fab, oil pressure and temperature gauges? check and check. :D

Word of warning to Gtie owners.
If you give it the beans, just watch out for the rev limiter killing the engine.
Happened to me once overtaking a Jag, hit max revs in 3rd and engine died just as I was alongside it, had to turn the ignition off and back on again.
Its an Italian safety feature, hit the oncoming lorry head on and die quicker!
Good job I was going in a straight line and the steering lock didn't lock.
Dave

Sounds exciting (y) I always thought you had to take the keys out of the ignition and turn the steering wheel to get the steering lock to engage? Or is that another special surprise for Y10 owners to discover!

Certainly an interesting concept. I had a GTie for a bit, but never had this happen to me. I'm worried I drove it too slowly now.

FYI, the steering wheel lock can't lock once unlocked unless you remove the key from the barrel in any steering lock mechanism I know.

JamieK

You are indeed right about the key in the ignition, it won't lock the steering.
But it was the fear factor of going flat out in 3rd and then finding you were not going to overtake someone who didn't want you to overtake in the first place.
Being a Jag he accelerated and so did I until... rev limiter / engine shutdown.
Big fear in little car, of course I was young and naive and to keep it on topic have only size 9 feet.

Hard to get a sense of scale but they do look small pedals and oddly angled.

Is there no rubber pad under the pedals?

Bit of an italian bodge job fitting them to the "wrong" right side of the vehicle then.

Forgot this had carpet - how very upmarket :)

Here's the pedal spacing in Gertie, is it the same as other Y10s

It looks pretty similiar. Having thought about it, the guy who backed mine off a flatbed commented that he nearly pressed all the pedals at the same time. Guess it makes heel toeing easier :)

I delivered the new windscreen to Panda central (or VmanC's workshop) yesterday, great to see Vernon and the projects but especially good to finally meet the Y10.
She wouldn't cooperate enough to have a drive but I'm very impressed with what I saw, poked, prodded, sat in and ogled.

All being well I shall be down again to drive the beast soon (y)

Pictures when I find the camera that is buried somewhere in Fizzle beneath the haul from Kev's :)

If your coming down south again soon let me know and I'll get the rear bumper to you (y)

Actually, I need to get down to Vernons so I could take it there for you to pick up maybe

JamieK : I'll be down to Vernons in about 6 weeks with the Alfa back seats and to have the fronts fitted to Fizzle - they are grey not blue to won't be going in the 4x4

Oh and hopefully I'll get to drive GerTie ;)

It just occurred to me I have a Strut brace for one of these if your interested. Its made by kingdragon racing which despite the trashy name I think is an Italian firm.

I'd use it on mine, but because its meant for the Gtie engine it fouls on the FIRE carburettor.

That would be great, bring it along to Panda Camp, I think she already has one but could well fit a fuel injected Fizzle perhaps? (y)
