VmanC kindly forwarded on this picture of Betty's near-twin (that's the car, not the smiling lady behind her...):

My questions are, therefore:

Is it 'permissible' for both cars to have this style of wheels (i.e. to get Betty the hubcaps)?
If so, where can I get them from?
And, cheekily, how much do they usually go for...?

I have the hub caps and little black caps in stock so no problem sourcing them.

Wheels are currently black as Jen had aftermarket wheel trims on her but I think I can remember seeing the little black caps on there too, will know for sure tomorrow.

I guess if we can confirm that the CL came with either option originally you can take your pick.

I always thought that the trims that cover the wheel nuts were only put on later CLXs and CLs/750s would have had the black hubnut caps.

There's one of those caps on at least one of the wheels!

Looks like we're heading in that direction, then, for Betty (although I shall keep Godiva as she is -- at least for the moment...) -- and the brochure photographs confirm it. (I should have looked at that, first, shouldn't I?!)

My early CL (D plate) had the small black caps on it originally, so I'd think Betty did too. Of course mine now has Cinq alloys, but it was never meant to be a show car.

I say go for silver steelies and just the black plastic trims on

It will help distinguish her from all of our run of the mill mk2's

I saw Betty today whilst I was waiting for Vern to sort out Charmania's electricals.

I took a rubbish photo on my phone, she looks just as I'd of thought, an early Mk2, minus one wing mirror.

I did notice that. Charmania's aerial is about 6ft long

And still doesn't pick up radio 1

. Was fitted by the owner before me, I think he was into CB radio too.

Picks it up fine if you aren't moving, I blame the headunit itself. It makes funny noises on its own, that and the clock, it makes noises too of course.

Agreed... -- which is why I will be asking VmanC nicely to remove it (presuming those external air vents aren't as rare as my brain-cells...) -- and sourcing a lovely hinge-mounted one, instead (which I've seen for sale all over the place, thank goodness...).

That's because it's on the door (getting in before Most Easterly Pandas does...): hanging on by a thread (and some rather neatly applied what-looks-like-insulation-tape...)!

Luckily: there seem to be loads of those around, too... -- unless that nice VmanC chap has one hiding in a box, somewhere...!
