oil filter tool was from machine mart :)

no stab with screw driver:eek: it can put little bit of metal into your engine  tool worked good, i was pissing about for ages with the strap one, then i remembered i got a credit note for machine mart, so i buggered off and got it, filter was off in a few seconds :)

how bits of metal? the oil is sat in the filter.. you stab it and the filter is then removed.. no oil flow going on.

i stab or use big plier things to remove stuborn filters.

stabbing causes force, force moves stuff, and **** happens ;)

also when hole made air goes in, air can move stuff, and when you unscrew, oil moves, thay why it make a mess

I have never had the courage to stick a srewdriver in an oil filter, I mean its so final, what if it still wont come off:eek: . It is however a recomended method.
I always used to use a pair of Stiltsons but had to buy a chain wrench(pic attached) when I got the TD Tempra in 95 as the oil filter was too big to get the Stiltson on, irritating as that great lump of steel now only gets used once every 5 years when the immersion heater blows up. The chain is a Draper from the local autofactors and its been no bother n always worked fine. Now the cartridge in a bowl filter on the MGB is a challenge, complete with spring loading impossible to reach and an engine out job if you strip the thread  (pic)Thanks for input about the clamp, worth knowing. Finally, the Gator grip just visible in the pic, anyone else got one? If so ever found something it could actually do?

i have never had to use anything but my hands to remove an oil filter.

yes me to. the mk1 punto oil filter is easy to get at, & there are no oil leaks
so its a doddle to come off with bare hands:D
that said other makes of fiats may have filter in a not so easy place:mad:
nothing to do with this realy but, last time i changed the oil & filter it was very windy, eh, i stupidly tryed 2 pour old oil into plastic containor, yes u guesed it all over the place:bang: what a bloody mess, ah well lesson learned & all that:confused:
