White Vinegar!

Again, online reviews suggested that White Vinegar or distilled white vinegar would work at eliminating the smoke smell, and is also great at cleaning off any stains etc.

Found myself a bottle of ‘Distilled White Vinegar’ in my local Asda, but I imagine its available almost everywhere. The reviews mentioned either soaking a couple of towels with the vinegar and placing in tubs left in car, or just pouring direct into tubs left in the car over night; I poured a decent measure of vinegar into two large plastic tubs and left them in the rear foot wells over night to get to work hoping they would absorb left over smells as mentioned in some other reviews.

So next morning I open the door to my chip shop…I mean car…and I am greeted by an over powering tang of the vinegar! No smell of smoke, or any other products now, yep just the vinegar!

I drove to work with windows down to remove the initial smell, which lasted a couple of days, and then noticed the smell of smoke seemed to be reduced majorly (again either because of the vinegar, or because of everything combined/time). But the smoke smell did return after a week or so.

Some people mention using the vinegar watered down slightly to clean all surfaces of the car, but I couldn’t stand the smell any longer so chose not to. Just a thought.

White Vinegar Rating: 5 – replaced the smoke smell with a very strong vinegar smell for quite a while, but that’s it…car smells of a chippy!
Cost: about 50p for a bottle
