Hi All,

Having problems starting my 2007 Grande Punto 1.2 Petrol from cold. It turns over and fires up ok but then dies immediately. The temp gauge then shows a warm engine (even though it's cold) and the fan comes on. It takes 5 or 6 attempts to get it to start up and stay running and when it eventually does stay running the choke doesn't kick in so idles slowly. I have to leave it running like this for a few minutes 'til it's properly warmed up (touching the throttle stalls it again). Once warm though, it runs fine all day and starts no problem, until the next morning.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Dave

Thanks for the reply.

I forgot to mention that I had a blocked oil breather pipe a couple of weeks back. Don't know whether that makes a difference.

Is it possible to check whether the MAP sensor is working properly?

Dave

mines currently doing the same thing. Engine Management says Water Temp Sensors malfunction. May try a MAP sensor when the finance company stop arsing about

Mine been doin the same for a week or so and today the engine managment light came on + the temp gauge stopped working and the rad fan comes on from cold start and stays on ? any ideas pls

Thanks

Did you ever find out what the problem was? i have the exact same problem, i havent noticed if the temp gauge does that but takes about 4 minutes of constant trying to get the car started

Hi I seem to be having the same problem with starting as you guys had. But if it is the MAP sensor would it not show up on a diagnostic? I have had a diagnostic check which came up with water temp sensor problem, I changed that sensor but it has not solved the starting problem and the engine management light comes on and off. Any advice?
