With or without an exisiting factory sub.

This guide explains how to use your existing (If you have a factory sub) subs wiring loom, to add a pre-amp RCA connection.

If you dont have an exisiting sub you can use your rear speakers connection by either taking the car to bits to get to the speakers

whack a picture up mate, lets see what your looking at, also if you can get the HU out and take a pic of the back of that, if all else fails you may be able to go from the HU instead

Will get picture up soon there is 13 wires I think. Found out what two are 12v and earth so left them in plug still. Tried every wire on speaker nothing. Also have fuse in place for the hifi system including amp. My guess the wires stop where every the amp would be in the car any one know where the amp would be fitted in a punto then can have a look from there.

Hmmm this seems a bit odd, i have an 07 grande punto and i just wired mine up to the back of the head unit using the RCA converter then ran RCA's to the rear of the car. do you have a factory sub installed already and just want to get a better sub? because if you dont have a factory sub then i strongly recommend just going straight from the head unit. hope this helps

Re: Adding A Pre-Out RCA Connection

I'm so confused when it comes to subs. I have a factory fitted sub in my GP and i have an 'active' sub from my previous car. How do i wire up my sub? do i only splice into the existing cables like the guide shows using this:Click image for larger version

and then use this to eliminate the high level frequency:Click image for larger version

OR

on the rear of my 'active' sub i have this input panel:Click image for larger version

with this high input cable:Click image for larger version

Any ideas? Thank you everyone!

Hi mate

Ok so i did exactly the same as you well near enough anyway, i had the RCA converter (the first picture) and basically spliced that directly into the back of the headunit as i didnt have a stock subwoofer, however if you use this guide you should get the end result but your RCA outputs will be in the boot as appose to the front which is where mine was. Im not too sure about how the high level thing works but on the active sub should be a frequency crossover on it already?

Anyway with regards to the high level input (the last picture) stay away from that as it will give crap sound, all you need is a set of RCA cables and run it from the RCA converter right to the low level input on the subwoofer and jobs a gooden

hope this helps bud, if not give me a message and i can try help you out a bit more
Thanks matt89 thanked for this post

I spent 3 hours this afternoon splicing and cutting and taping my RCA filter and level line converter in the boot off the factory sub feed and then plugged into my sub. Main problem was getting the power into the sub but figured out a different route to most people but thank you for the help! (I've also heard high level inputs are **** but good to have it confirmed!)
