I own a 2009 fiat ducato with a 2.3 iveco Diesel engine
When there’s a frost it won’t start and has no diesel pressure
When the weathers mild it’s fine !!!!

Is the lift pump running? Is it cranking normally? Any error codes?

When was last time fuel filter renewed!

Fuel could be solidifying in the cold. Do you use winterised diesel?

had new filter and a new regulator (£188) and so far had mechanics baffled , the vehicle is in the workshop and not out side . It just shuts down and has no diesel pressure on the rail.

Fuel to the filter flows ok as the van is in the workshop. but just loses pressure to the rail when its cold .

has a fault code and says no pressure , 10bar and should be 220 bar !! cranking fine but no diesel is getting to the injectors or the rail , pump is fine and so is the supply , something just cuts it off in icy weather . vehicle is inside as well !

Hi quick check to do engine fuse box swap T10 fuel pump relay with T9 ignition relay, Iv had these relays play up and I take it the immobiliser light goes out with key ignition on

hi,:)
10 bar = tank pump
220 + = min cranking HP pump

fuel sounds like it's IN the rail..
just not getting / holding pressure.. so either HP pump is failing.. or the rail is bleeding off pressure.

Hi ignition on scavenger pump in fuel tank primes low pressure system on Ducato to 3 bar ,remove leak off pipes off injectors clamp pipe with mole grips then you connect your leak off bottles to all 4 injectors see if 1 leaking bad causing low pressure in high pressure circuit when you turn over engine

Can you believe I put a heater under her last night and she fired and ran fine !! There aren't no leaks it's just a mystery that it's when it freezing outside ??????

Hi I know on Ducato when high pressure pump breaks you get metal filings in fuel tank good clue pump failure

Got the low pressure to filter , that's fine but when it's freezing it just loses all pressure the the rail and taken of the pipe on injectors there is nothing . Something is quitting when freezing outside . This morning I had a greenhouse heater under it all night and it fired strait away ??????

That's interesting as I believe it to be more electrical than anything , are the relays the same if I switch them or just get new ones ? I,m not really sure about any immobiliser as I have no flashing light on this one .i had a heater under it last night and she fired up fine !!

The relays are same but run different circuits T10 fuel system T9 ignition just swap them or any the same colour in fuse box can you hear low pressure pump prime system when you open driver door and ignition on ? If relay faulty and swapped you’ll get different fault code also use test light on both side fuses in engine fuse box if bad earth one side of fuse dim, 1 silly question to ask you has your missus filled it with petrol ? Warming fuel lines to start? Got same silly symptoms if all that fails I recommend Webster’s garage coronation street they will fix it with their king dick adjustable spanner give them a call

As I said earlier - could be the fuel being too solid. Try putting 5% petrol in the fuel and see if it helps. Won't hurt.

Ian.
