Technical DPF regeneration

Technical DPF regeneration

I’d go with that.

I have also been seeing a lot of stuff about the oil recirculated into the engine from crank case breathers also fouls the exhaust and adds to the particulates clogging the filter.

Oil evaporation and condensation is a big issue as oils get thinner.

0w/20 is the standard now, with the Japanese wanting 0w/8!

We use gas to liquid technology and have more or less eliminated evaporation, plus these oils are much more pure so tend to keep EGR systems and crank breathers cleaner.

Cheers mate, i'll contact the software company, hopefully they'll be to tell me before I buy.

The exhaust piece was listed for my van but after contacting the person selling them he stated that my van was too new and id only be able to get the DPF from Fiat... Well why the f**k advertise it stating it will fit my van then???!!!
While Im on that... If I did get one, cheap like that, and got it changed... Would that instantly resolve the problem and reset all the internal computer etc??? Or would I still have a load of messing around to do??

Thanks a lot for all your help, I really do appreciate you guys taking the time.

Les

Hi,
MES will let you force a regen. You can downlod the free version , make sure it connects and chck what ECU is fitted befre you pay the licence fee. The DPF equipped van has a Marelli 6F3 ECU.
You can also check the re-gen status and DPF pressure with MES.
If the van is ex SSE it may have a speed limiter progrmmed whic you can disable with MES if it's the standard one.

To be fair to the ebay seller the title of the DPF listing does say 10/05-3/11 which would exclude your van.

Thanks Robert.

Yes the listing on Ebay did state that but it has a search to see if it would suit the model of your vehicle. It did come up wit 2016. And in the Ebay search for DPF filter for 2016 Fiat Doblo, this was the first to come up and had 2016 listed in its title.... Anyway...

I will try and download and see if I can get it working... However, I have to wait for the leads I purchased to be delivered.

Thanks
Les

Hi Rob, sorry to pester you again but you really seem to know your stuff.

Ive seen this on Ebay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Professi...e:Fiat&hash=item283629ba4f:g:xeUAAOSwDiBZL9Cc

Its a cleaning fluid. Do you think its worth adding this to my diesel while doing a forced regeneration? Hopefully this would clean out the filter much more???

Sorry if I sound thick, I really dont know the score with this stuff.

Thanks
Les

Don’t bother with that stuff, firstly it’s really expensive, and you can get brand name versions for less.
Tesco sell the redex version quite often it’s on sale. I have a bottle of the redex stuff here which says to use immediately when the light comes on, I’d say your filter maybe too far gone, but you could try but get it far cheaper from else where.

I think it somehow chemically alters the soot to decrease the temperatures at which the soot burns off. That said it’s not going to have much effect on soot that is already blocking the filter.

Think of it this way, you’re trying to unblock the holes on a shower head, running water through it is not going to unblock the wholes so you mix a little lime scale remover with water and pump that through, in that situation the only lime scale that the lime scale remover is going to attack it the lime scale in the open holes that the water is already running through.

Hmmm, this makes me think.... Can I not just take this section of pipe off and clean the inside of the pipe out??? Surely theres a solution you can soak the piece of exhaust in to clean all the crap out of it then reinstall it?
I think the biggest issue would be getting it off. I haven't a clue which piece it is and difficult it is to remove?? haha The big question!!

Cheers

YES THERE IS !!!

You can have all the credit for this because I’d never thought if that but the clever chaps at Wynn’s did seemingly a while ago.

The DPF is the catalytic convertor looking thing that connects immediately to the bottom of the turbo exhaust outlet, there are two small pipes connected to it for the pressure sensors, these usually go up through the engine and connect to the sensor which is on the bulkhead (normally)

Ok guys, Ive bought the software MultiEcuScan - Contact the suppliers and they inform me it will definitely work. Got a laptop running windows 7, got my leads -https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Diagnostics-Italian-Cars-Fiat-Alfa-ELM-OBD2-cables-adapters-MULTIECUSCAN/281712496622?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Trying to get it to work.... I can't even get the leads to work. I have downloaded the drivers, everything looks right in the control panel saying that drivers on everything ok. When I try to connect the software I just get this: AAAAARGH how do I add an image!!!

/var/folders/d0/dc75zj0x2rj602bjt7wm10380000gp/T/com.apple.iChat/Messages/Transfers/IMG_1221.JPG

OK, it says

CONNECTION FAILED
You need ELM 327/OBDKey interface to connect this module!
Check your cable and serial port settings!!

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong... Im really pulling my hair out with this now as.
1. The laptop I have, the battery is dead so I have to plug the lead into an extension cable from my house to reach to the van.
2. I have to unplug the damn thing, go back into the house, connect it back to the power in the house, restart the laptop and try and download new drivers as I cant pick up my broadband from where my vehicle is.
3. I have done this that many times I really feel like my hair is going to fall out.

Why cant anything be simple???

I am NOT going to pay Arnold Clarke ridiculous amounts of money,

I didn't realise there was settings in the software and had to select the type of cable... Anyway.... hooooraaaaayyyy.

However, I found the faults etc and couldn't perform a forced regeneration. Can anyone help me with this and tell me what I need to do??

How do I do a forced regeneration if it won't allow it?

Find your nearest Royal Mail workshop ( go with this) as we now do repairs for other businesses as well, as our fleet are mostly doblos our guys are well in the knowledge of forcing regens on them.

Wow really? I'll look into this. I haven't a clue where they do their repairs in Manchester but I can ask.

Im sure it probably something i am doing as im not very save with this kind of thing. It would just be nice if someone seen the pics and said... Oh you just need to press this button.

If life was that simple.

Hi,
Did you reset the faults before trying the regeneration? If not do this first.
If it will still not regenerate then reset the service indicator AND the oil change. The oil change is on the ENGINE ECU under the adjustments tab.
If it still won't regenerate you could possibly try the "DPF replacement " adjustment and force a regeneration.

Don't forget to reset faults before you try regeneration each time.
I guess you read this, but the engine has to be fully wamed up befor you can force a regenereration.
If all this fails then you will have to get the DPF cleaned or replaced.
