From my point of view...Pointless to be honest. Its just like a massive iPhone. I dont see the attraction, maybe with buisness men who do alot of presentations and stuff maybe 
i have an iphone and 2 imacs in the house (yeah apple fanboy) but the products are great. i was going to hackintosh a dell mini 10 for traveling / casual web browsing.... but seeing the iPad i might get one of those instead. yeah.. its just an oversized iphone... but whats wrong with that. its the same price as a non-contract iphone from apple and it does alot more.
all i need a second computer for is watching movies, casual web browsing and maybe some word processing / sound recording when i go to uni next year (have the imac in the dorm obviously) so its all i need. plus i was expecting almost double the price that its ended up being.
yeah it has a few drawbacks like no flash, no multi tasking and the lack of alot of actual computer usability like usb ports etc.
i'm hoping for some good photoshop apps to be developed and i'd kill to be able to connect one to the imac to use as a second screen / graphic tablet.

Doesn't work with stylus' so you can kiss your photoshopping goodbye unless you want to do it with your finger and that aint gonna work!
why wouldnt it work with a stylus? you can get styluses for the iphone.. and it uses the same capacitive technology. all you need is a conductive core / electical source. an AAA battery works as a stylus for an iphone.

Yes but they're not really all that accurate.
It's by no means a laptop or smartphone replacement but it might well kill off netbooks.
I mean it ticks all the boxes of what netbooks are supposed to be (lightweight, big battery life, portable, great internet, email...) and it seems apple are pricing it to be within the netbook price range (£300-350).
I don't think I'll be rushing to buy one but certainly would consider it in the future - much better than other tablet which are just Windows on a flat screen. At least with this its been designed from the ground up - hardware AND software to match.
And before anyone asks I have an iPhone 3G but I have a Windows/Linux based PC and Windows Laptop

But netbooks do pretty much everything that a PC does aside from when you need ****loads of power. This thing can't! It can't run XP, it can't run windows 7, it can't run flash, you have to pay for apps you'd get for free with a netbook.It's by no means a laptop or smartphone replacement but it might well kill off netbooks.

think i prefer a netbook i would break this or get it really dirty with greasy fingers, then i wont be able to see any thing

still think i be better off investing in a betamax video player

Yes there are other devices that do similar (or even more things).
Its the same in the smartphone market. The iPhone wasn't the first and doesn't do the most but what it does it does really well and consequently has taken the market by storm. Up until now the tablet market has been small and it can be argued that this is due to price and most of all the lack of software to run on these devices. Yes they can run Windows (CE or full blown XP/Vista/7) but that os is best with a keyboard and mouse. What Apple are doing is saying - yes it doesn't do x,y,z. That's because if you want to word process or install software from various sources get a laptop, what the iPad does is email, photos, web and media and it does it better on this form factor than anything before it.

Microsoft created a whole OS around the tablet, it still sucked balls. The problem is this, the tablet is the solution the problem most people simply don't have.
Uuuurm the point of a laptop is that the keyboard is horizontal and screen vertical. It does look very awkward to do any thing unless its on a desk with the keyboard dock. Kind of defeats the object, it neither fits in the category of laptop or hand held and its not a computer
