I have a 99 (S reg) cinq sporting. I bought it last Sept as a commuter for my 45 mile a day round trip. I had the clutch cable adjusted back in Sept as gears crunching & biting point below the floor! Now recently (about 5,000 miles later) I have a noise and vibration when pulling away quickly, most noticeable when pulling away from rest in 1st (when the vibration is more of a judder). Is this something to do with the clutch, or bearings, or gearbox, or all of the above!!?? I have noticed the clutch feels stiffer recently and seems to stick and come up with a bang the first time I use it in the morning!
Thanks for any suggestions.

this is almost certain to be the clutch release bearing that has worn its way into the pressure plate the solution,,,new clutch,, the only other thing it might be is the operating arm is seized in its bush were it goes into the gearbox.

I`m with jimybob sounds exactly the same symptoms as mine had, clutch was like pushing a brick and crunching into 1st and reverse,New clutch and cable and all is ok(for now)

Thanks for all your replies! (y)
I guess you have confirmed my suspicions that the problem is with the clutch. Someone asked does the noise/judder go when over 2500rpm. The car drives fine once it's moving, it just doesn't sound good when pulling away, or accelerating hard under load, and the clutch is very heavy in traffic! I'm still doing 50 miles a day in it, but will get it checked out soon (unfortunately I'm no mechanic myself!)
