Hmmm, I wouldnt recommend driving a B over 150kmh. And definitely not without the stiffer springs. Its really not up to autobahn lane changes elk-test stylee, and flipping it over doesnt bare thinking about, in terms of windscreen hoop squashing. It only has to drift a few degrees off front facing angle at high speed to induce a flip.
The shape of the B generates fearsome rear lift, and the car is seriously destabilised.
me two penneth.

I've not had any problems at 160 to 170 on the auto bahn. I've also heard of a guy who drove at 200 each day to work.

Mine's 10 this year and I haven't made any suspension mods, or renewed any suspension parts yet.

I have had the tracking and balancing done (I've now had new wheels so the balancing isn't an issue).

I'd say it's 100 times more stable than an old Citroen ZX I had, and as stable (but not as quiet) as my wife's year old Seat Altea (when doing 160+).

It would be interesting to know if the new "face" on the later models improved things or made them worse.

Seems to me Bencollins that you neeed to have your B looked at if it's dodgy over 150kph:D 180kph in mine hood up and hood down no problem, no twitichiness just flies in the gob:eek:

Dude, the B is not an A-Class Merc!! probably your B has had it bad or you are too cautious at speed.
Every single day I go up to 150km/h - 200km/h that is why i just noticed that the steering loses a touch of feel. The B is as stable as hell even on original suspension and you should be taken away by men in black suits if you even manage to flip it over or anything else of the things you described!
Finally, I would just like to point out that my only thought when doing 200km/h is "what a shame it wont go more!"...

cruised at 130-140kph down the autoroutes last summer in pretty bad cross winds with no problem. Didn't go any faster cos I'd got a rack on the back complete with large bag in a bin liner to keep it dry. We were being deafened by the racket from the bin liner. Didn't make any difference to the stability hood up or down. I've got a new-shape b with standard suspension.
