der... another dumb question... the new B is booked in for a cambelt next tuesday. Is it going to be a problem that i don't have the red key?

Nightmare scenario would be the cambelt gets done but then the motor won't start etc etc.

No you dont need the red key for a cambelt change. I have had mine done at DTR and I never gave them the red/brown key.

FYI
My dad has a 06 Italian 250 bike that had a red key and he lost it as well as one of the two normal keys. He was told that he would need a new EQU and all that stuff, BUT he found a lock place/shop that could copy his normal key. I could be worng but all the red key does is let you copy a new key.

I found a link in another Red Key post somewhere to a guy who can provide new red keys and re-code the immobiliser system. I rang him for a quote the other day and it looks like about £170. I'd rather not fork that out at all if I have to, but better to get it done before the system craps out or someone (probably me) does something dumb and resets the immobiliser.

hi i have a fiat punto and i have just changed the thermostat but now i have found out that the head gasket has gone.i am going to replace that but do you think that i should replace the cambelt aswell.and how much do you think it would cost ?

Im not the best person to ask kaleigh... but it would depend on the mileage and how long ago the cambelt was last changed. I dont know the exact cambelt change intervals as recommended by Fiat but if the belt is more than four years old (irrespective of mileage) or has more than 30k on it I would consider getting it changed. As for cost I just got mine done by a workshop just outside shrewsbury for £150. DTR charge about £400 quid I think. Shop around.
