After my visit to my local dealer where they say that my gps problem probably was a radio problem and want to sell me a new 1.2k radio, I prefered to forget the GPS.
This week the radio had anothers problems, dont worked well, too slow and the screen turns black all the time. Dont had another solution that try to update to the firmware 13.00.57.05... and it's a new radio
all the funtions work well and the GPS finnaly works

I think the uConnect is not part of the MicroPod the dealers use, they have to manually visit the recall part of the wiTech site to download the radio update and do it. It does waste a lot of their labour time, so they probably do not want to do it
It's also no profit from them with their labour time, and many are inexperienced, so they just want to charge for a new radio

I fully understand. I know other car manufacturers provide an online facility to update their infotainment systems but FCA is still behind in Europe
In the US, FCA have a uConnect website where you upload your US VIN and it will provide you with the latest uConnect firmware package, years ahead from what we use
The US uConnect is different to our EU one, do not use their updates by the way or you will brick the radio
In January 2018 a have a lot of Trouble with my UConnect and after a lot of Pressure from me my Deale do an Update to 12.00.24.01.
The Problems are gone but at this moment my eco drive didn’t Work.
The Dealer say he can do nothing, Fiat say after months and maybe 30 Mails he can do nothing it’s a Software Problem and maybe it’s fixed in the Future.
Yesterday I do the Update to 13.00.57.05 and oh Wonder all thinks are Work and Eco Drive Work.

Yes, Fiat dealers are very bad. They honestly do not care about the radio updates and what's broken.
I've had a new unit fitted with the latest firmware. My Fiat main dealer hadn't got a working laptop with the Fiat software set on it. So they returned it to me without the Proxi alignment. This meant the steering wheel controls didn't work, the odometer flashed and, notably, the Fiat logo splash screen and usage warnings were not present.
For those who have the wrong splash screen, maybe, they just need a Proxi alignment.
Interestingly my Fiat main dealer told me first of all that it was not possible to update the software and refused to update it under warranty. When I pointed them to this newsgroup they said it was wrong.
At the same time my tyre pressure sensors started mis-reporting issues. The main dealer insisted that the 500L used the antilock brakes to indicate TPMS issues. On this forum I found the in-tyre TPMS sensor part number - which again they said was wrong.
So because they couldn't Proxi Align my head unit, I went to another garage to complete their job. While there I asked about the TPMS and they said immediately that it used in-tyre sensors and looked up the part number, which unsurprisingly, matched that on this forum.
The lesson - it's sometimes worth driving past your local Fiat dealer to find one that knows what they are talking about.
That is very bad of your dealer not performing the correct Proxi Alignment
They do not want to update radios under warranty as this costs them labour-time which is probably unpaid when they could be working on other cars like servicing where they'll profit from a customer. Many dealers are just using the 'Fiat' brand and don't have a clue! (Mind you there are some good ones).
I have had dealerships rip me off, I asked for a service and they didn't change the oil at all, it was still dirty, the air filter was black - they just reset the service computer and called it a day
Other dealers will try to use cheaper grade Castrol C2 as it is Fiat spec'd (or used to) and my motor runs a lot noisier on that. I just do servicing myself now as there's no reliable dealer, some good ones will stock Selenia
They need a WiTech subscription to download the uConnect update on the WiTech recall page. This also costs them a yearly fee which is very expensive. Something over 1k a year when I last checked at Tech Authority.
As for TPMS, there are variants, one is indirect TPMS, which uses the ABS to calculate the air pressures, my 500L has this type.
Some other 500L cars use direct TPMS, which uses that sensor inside the valve to calculate the air pressure. It will go bad when the battery dies (probably 2 years), so you will either need to buy another one OEM or one with the correct radio frequency and then pair it with MultiECUScan on the car. So they're kinda wrong on that too.

The trick I used before with a German VPN to download the file no longer works. Fiat has patched this security bug lol.
It was uploaded in Dec last year so unlikely to have anything major anyway.
I asked the uploader of the 500X firmware but they did not want to provide it.
I am waiting for anything online about this firmware and so are our
Italian friends at Alfa who also cannot get a hold of the VP2_CO firmware which is for the 500L and some Alfa's
