Well washed and waxed the new-ish fiat 500C today - not only did I get burnt and was out there hours I really struggled!!

I used the auto glym definition wax today - I struggled to buff it off the boot and bonnet - why would this be?

It buffed up Every where else perfectly, just them two
Spots - looks a bit odd although it don’t show in the pictures.

Did anyone else wash and wax today?

The weather. You can't successfully wax a car in bright sunshine, when the metal's hot, as the wax will harden long before you can buff it properly. A black car will be worst of all as the panel temperatures will be highest of any colour.

No chance. Trying to wax a car in bright 28C sunshine is asking for trouble. Not that it's been much of a problem this year - until today.

Your car looks nice though (y).

Personally I'd wait for a more suitable day (I'm sure you won't have to wait long), then wash it, polish the affected panels with Autoglym SRP (take great care to keep it off the fabric roof) & finish with the HD wax. If SRP doesn't shift it, then either use a degreaser or claybar - both should strip wax.

Is this your first black car, btw?

I had a TT QS 240bhp in black but my ex used to do all the washing and waxing. This was my first attempt and my last at waxing lol

I’ll give it a go with the SRP, have two bottles of the stuff, just never really used it. In case I do more damage!! ? I’ll just do the bonnet and boot and I’ll do it on a more suitable day ?

If you are still struggling to get it off, spray with a light mist of water and get a microfibre cloth, folded up and drag very slowly over the paint with a bit of pressure.

If you use a quick detailer spray on the microfibre cloth that is used to remove the wax this does two things. One it will soften the wax making it remove easier and secondly it will aid the wax shine giving you a better than before finished shine.

Also it will help beading on windows (never main front window) and trim will stay darker etc.
