Hi.

Back to the Fiat family after a short break.
Had a couple of Multiplas before, last one got to 183,000 miles before some muppet did this to it on New Years morning this Year . . .

Eldest Daughter has now picked up a 12,000 mile, '08 500 1.2 'POP', after her '55 KA died.
It's all hers, until something goes wrong of course, then it's 'Garage-of-Dad' to the rescue, as usual.

Hopefully with such a low mileage, it'll be a while before that happens.

Anything in particular to look out for though?

Full service history, all two or three of them!
The Classic little-old-Lady-owner from new.

Multiplas do look odd, but you can't argue with the practicality.
Six full-size Seats, no sitting-in-the-front arguments from the kids, shorter than a Golf, removable Seats turn it into a small Van.
I have a Mazda 3 now, and I really miss the space.
I keep going to put things in it that the Multi would have swallowed easily, and end up cursing!

Corrosion related things are your greatest risk
Mmm, we bought our 59 plate car in Nov 15, lovely car, in the first year its had(some/lots cosmetic items too) battery, sump, discs, drums(NEVER seen rust on drums like ours ever!)/shoes/cylinders, rear shocks, front control arms/springs,shocks,drop links(not top mounts, though should have), tailgate wiring issue fixed, heater matrix, "metal coolant pipe behind exhaust", heater bleed valve pipe-due to bleed valve snapping off, breather hoses, spark plug leads, wheel corrosion cleaned and painted(steel wheels), tyres(6!), wiper blades(5), rear suspension beam rust treated, upgraded headlamp bulbs(Phillips Extreme +130%), engine earth straps, clutch slave cylinder(yet to fit), boot light(installed-cheap skates), lighter socket vs power socket. All the exhaust clamps/engine bracket have completely disappeared/rusted away, there are no clamps holding it together, manufactured a new front pipe securing bracket
So you'll need a Haynes manual soon enough,,
Cosmetic items, Fiat forum decal, rear badge(yours will be terrible), mats, other B post decals, new key fob cover+new buttons, rear wiper arm, exhaust trim stainless steel (paint rear of box black first), plus other things I cannot remember

Oh and make sure she CHECKS THE OIL EVERY MONTH show her how to open the bonnet, check the oil brake/CLUTCH fluid, washer bottle(stupidly small) and blow up the space saver spare it will be flat!
Rear drums had serious rust and front shocks had rusted through to the point of leaking,
Unless your car has had some/lots of work done, its very near the scrap/do lots of work and keep for, quite some time, point, it may seem a bit of a hard comment but its a fairly good view of the car, ask yourself, how many 07-13 plate cars do you still see? 07-11 almost non now! I put a post on about a year ago asking "where all the ""older"" cars have gone"?, I say old but really they're not that old.

If you're not handy, full service, belts and 0w30 oil to quieten any wear maybe £500. Would I do 100 miles a day in? Possibly. Brakes and clutch may not be the best though. It could be fine.

I'll check the Belt.

As for all the other possible issues, good to see Fiat haven't lost their touch . . .

As for being 'handy', in 40 years of many car and Bike ownerships, I've never paid anyone to do anything to any of them (other than Tyres on cars).

No signs of any corrosion other than the usual light surface stuff underneath.

Becky's quite good at checking stuff herself.

Check the rear brake drums mine were appalling like the original items were never painted and made from cheese .I destroyed the fitting kit removing the drums due to the lip along with a wheel cylinder.
