By the way this may be interesting as it has to do with batteries. Does anyone know a decent car battery website to buy them from.
Where do the experts get their batteries?

I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be buying a battery from a website. Partly because they're heavy, yet somewhat fragile, & really should be transported by someone who knows what they're doing, also because I'd be concerned about the supplier honouring the guarantee if the worst happened - I've had at least three batteries replaced under warranty.

If I needed one tomorrow, I'd phone round the local factors, but also I'd check the likes of Halfords & Costco - if you happen to catch a promotion they sometimes are extremely competitive. Halfords in particular have always been reasonable with me about exchanging prematurely-failing batteries; the last one had just a week's warranty left & was immediately replaced with new AND given a new 4 year guarantee - without them even testing it*. Also, as with tyres & brake fluid, I'd want to check the manufacturing date before parting with my money; no sense in buying one that's been sitting around on the shelf for too long.

* Hint: Take it back to one of the branches that doesn't have a workshop attached ;).

They use specialist delivery services due to batteries being hazzarous materials, they won't be thrown about like normal stuff ;)

Personally I wouldn't charge the battery with it connected to the car though.

Thanks for that i had a battery completely fail on me after 2 years and it was so bad i could barely take it to the nearest dealer so i just bought a new one. I will take more care next time i get one. Out of curiosity, what are the specs for a fiat 500 battery so i can find one in case i have to look for one?

Halfords have a 'drop down' where you can ask for a recommendation. It comes up with 'Halfords Lead Acid Battery HB202' (3 year guarantee) but you would need to 'double check' it yourself.

I once bought a pricey battery off a local motor factor and the battery failed after 14 months - had no joy when I went back and stupidly bought another one since I was 'under pressure'. I would agree with JR on Halfords on entertaining returns.
