Ok - this is my main reason for logging on just now, so I could check something out with you all...
I've just picked up my new car - a 500C 1.2 lounge and the only things I specced it up with were leather gearknob, side strip and chrome mirrors.
...So I was a bit surprised to discover it's got 'start & stop'! Maybe I'm being a bit dumb, but I didn't think it was a standard feature? I'm not complaining (I think) but I was a tad surprised when it kicked in!!! I thought I'd stalled it at first! and then the next time I noticed the 'S' light come up on the dash when it 'stalled' and I started to twig what was happening. Because I wasn't expecting it, I hadn't read up on it and so didn't really know how to use it! It was a little bit dangerous tbh because there were a couple of times where I didn't do something right and it didn't start the first time and I was a bit worried the guy behind me would assume I was on the move and bump me!
But it seems that it kicks in if you stop and don't put the handbrake on and keep your foot on the brake? But doesn't kick in if you keep your foot on the clutch or handbrake on? I guess I'll have to read up on it! Is it possible to disable it I wonder? Not that I'm sure I'd want to once I get used to it.
Should I be surprised to have it? Or is it standard on 500C's?
