Hi Everyone

Some of you may remember me, goodness me it has been nearly twenty years since I was a frequent visitor here, anyway, life has taken a turn and I have had to return to some budget motoring so I have acquired a Tipo, I have a few queries I'm hoping you guys can assist with.

1: The car wallows around like a jelly, has anyone improved the damping or swapped out the springs to Eibach, if so can you advise me on the results and a photo of the look would be appreciated.

2: I have the 1.6 Multijet, has anyone remapped theirs and does it make a difference worth the cost?

3: My Nav maps are from 2016, they have never been updated and the Mopar expired a month before I purchased the car, I have been to FIAT who informed me there is no current update (I find this incredible) I have spoken at length with Tomtom who say they have no maps to release as it's exclusive to the car brand manufacturer and I have searched high and low for a downloadable update and found nothing, if anyone could help I would again be most grateful.

I recently updated my Tipo to mar 2020 map's
Allthrough map centre said there was no update beyond march 19 before my update program expired
Despite fiat claiming to provide 4 updates a year

I appreciate your help, thank you, I have also been looking for a firmware update for the UConnect 5 but again it doesn't seem to exist when I put in my VIN I get nothing, I'd forgotten how clunky and unsupported FIAT ownership can be..........

Ive never found a source for firmware updates for the unit
There a website you can out your vin number into
But this does not work on European vin numbers on USA ones I believe

No idea what's going on with my unit any USB I insert I get an onscreen message saying Device Is Not Supported pretty rubbish to be honest.

Had any luck with sorting it out?
Try a usb stick with just a MP3 file or two on see if it reads them

Firstly, thank you Chris, your guidance got me to where I need to be and I now have the latest 05/20 Tomtom maps on my device.

How I got there, the cause for the issue was my current USB stick it was 3.1, no matter what format I used the car would throw up the same message 'Device Not Supported'.

So, with my brain whirring I looked through my old rubbish draw and found an old USB stick 2.0, I loaded the files to this stick and put it in the car, Hey Presto! It read the USB and two hours thirty five minutes later the update was complete............

Hello.

I have changed to Eibach springs. Bought from Ebay and delivered to my work. They make one hell of a difference with the steering being alot sharper and yes it can corner. Drawback which is to be expected is that the ride is firm but overall excellent.

I have a tuning box on my 1.6 diesel and that also makes a huge difference. Its a manually adjusted one from The Italian Box.

As for the Maps I am sure that a 3 year subscription can be purchased from your Local Fiat Dealer. Cost on this i am unsure of.

Mr Baxter, I have just ordered the Eibachs, I'm glad I'm not alone, any chance you could post a before and after photo of your Tipo on Eibachs?

I haven't come across any of the 'old crew' I'll jog my brain, Helz, Donz, err, who else, I went on a couple of meets and can't even remember the names, goodness me it was a long time ago, I brought a brand new Stilo in 2003 and was on here before then, oh, how time flies.........

I've been driving Alfas and Bemmers since but things have taken a turn and I find myself back in a Ferrari, sorry, FIAT!

The mirror caps were off ebay. £25.00 for the genuine ones. Quite chuffed with that result. There is no strip on the lights just at the top of the window that i won from a local tinting company.

You did jog my memory though, Stuart Demon D is dead? What happened? That freaked me out the most, I was friendly with him and my wife and I met him and his lovely wife a couple of times, he later went on to divorce her and that's when we lost contact.

Binki Rabbit? Urchin? FIAT Forum curse? Helz gone? I remember Sammiboo vaguely but no idea on Haywell Mallet. Donz was a belligerent little shot. Dawn of Time and her hubby, Dave you really have jogged my mind. Ben? He was the founder of the site wasn't he?

It's funny how we used to frequent this forum and it was almost part of our daily lives twenty years ago, then you move on, have you been here all this time?

stu had some sort of brain tumor iirc, ive been here all the time on and off not as active as the old days, social side of the forum isnt as it was back then as most forums facebook killed that off,
