If I was going to paint my B it would be BMW gunmetal grey.

Other than that, it also says the body's perfect but there's a problem with the speedo - it sticks sometimes - but he'll replace it with another one for an extra 200 euros.

jiggy does he list this as a buy it now or action and when it up.i have sent him email in english but i think i hoping a bit going to have to learn Italian quick.

and has anyone seen a orange on for real is its like punto sporting orange or duller?

I have seen a couple of orange ones, they are a solid orange colour not like the very bright metallic orange on the Punto Sporting............

Did a quick Google for 'orange barchetta' and there seem to be a few available in Japan for not a lot of money if you could be bothered with the hassle of importing one.................

maybe it will be cheaper to buy orange one ready done but there hard to find!!! how much should i be paying for a mark one b??
spent time trying to find out about importing car but had no luck understanding all the jibberish i found .

anyone have advice here.

I have never actually imported a car to the UK - although I have thought about it a number of times. My brother in law went to Germany to buy two Porsche's a few years ago as there was a HUGE waiting list in the UK. Flew over, bought a couple of 6 month old ones from a dealers forecourt, drove back, had the lights etc converted and registered then sold one for almost double what he paid for it! I am not sure about the duty on second hand cars but I am sure a quick surf around the HMRC web site will give you the outline. I think you would save a bundle (depending on what happens to the pound in the coming week(s)) otherwise there would not be such a booming market with Jap imports in the UK, just depends if you are prepared to go through the hassle of importing (which most people won't hence the reason car prices are higher in the UK than most of Europe)......

As for UK market price for a MK1 b the following is my opinion based on the cars that I have seen/nearly bought;

£1950 - £2500 - early car with high miles, some history - but overall shabby
£2500 - £3500 - highish miles but fair condition, service history but base models
£3500 - £4500 - lower miles, service history, good condition, comfort pack (leather etc)
£4500+ - MK1 'minter' FSH, clean and rust free, good spec, low miles etc.....

There are motoring guides out there that disagree with my opinion but I have seen b's on the Autotrader up for £4k+ in 'ok' condition that have been there for over a year! When you consider you can pick up a mk2 for £5.5 a mint mk1 'aint gonna fetch much more unless it goes to someone like us who are looking for a specific model/year mk1.........

thanks lrb that's helpful,if i done my homework correctly is a mark 2 wiyh the bump on the boot?

Not always, late mk1's had the boot-lid brake light as well, only on 2000/2001 models though. Biggest difference is the front bumper, the mk1 has a 'barchetta' (little boat) style bumper, the mk2 has a broader, lower bumper - there are subtle differences to the rear but you have to look hard to see them.

This piccie shows the difference quite well, the one on the far right is a mk2, the one on the far left is in the best colour!!!

Dutch.

You insurance company might be able to help, and I seem to recall a few years ago the ferry companies were offering trips as foot passengers on the way out and car driver on they way back. They may have some links if they still do that.

talking about colors... anyone ever considered 'two-tone' color ?

As i saw an (older) BMW 5-series recently, and it looked good in green and silver... it 'had something'...

then i came to my senses and realized... but it is sooooo dated :)
