Seem to be loads of MK1's with similar problems, but none exactly the same as mine. Punt overheated a few weeks ago, coolant all over the place, didn't have time to sort it so took it to the local garage who replaced a damaged hose. Problem sorted. Went to move it the other day having got back from holiday, no hot air, strange but didn't think anything of it. Took it out again in the evening and the temp guage steadily climbed till touching the red, only stopped as I got home again! Plus there was no hot air. Had a look under the hood and there was coolant all over the shop again but it seemed to be coming from the pressure release cap. Turned it over again and found out the fan wasn't working, tested the fan/ switch and it would seem that the fan switch is knackered. Now the real question, would the fan not coming on cause the hot air not to work? I don't know how the hot air is generated so haven't a clue about this, anyone else? I'll sort the switch out at the weekend, so can let you know if it sorts it but thought I'd ask and see if anyone had had the same problem....
