Just wondering if this was true? Bought a 360 watt wiring kit off ebay, (autoleads) It says can be used with 1000watts with no effects. Is this true? I am planning on running a 400watt amp off it. Will this be okay?

the wattage of power consumed and the output wattage of the amp are 2 different things

check the amps hand book as to what gauge wiring the manufacturer suggests (y)

The best way to do it accurately is to work out what sort of amps you are going to be drawing and look at this chart here.

I would personally go for the next size up (allowing for any clip) if it is further than half way inbetween the rating recommendation. Is it 400 w RMS either way i would go for 4 gauge (It is beter to judge a wiring kits rating by its Gauge) then you have the option of upgrading in the future and the knowledge that it is sufficient enough. It would just get to me if it were borderline.

hi mate, to be honest with you, id buy a wiring kit that is rated for the amp you are using.

Can we have an explination to that answer , i dont understand what you mean by that. You do know its not a case of just of looking at the wattage of the ams and then buying a kit to match ;).
I would always go for 4 gauge and if you have a large install go for O gauge, if i were to say what I would do.
