head did only take about 2-3 hours to rebuild i just like to moan , was only the one piston that was fubared major heat spot on the piston aswell was no.2 iirc. should be able to get it back on the road once ive sold this mass amount of parts i have at the mo, is getting rather silly cupboards full garage is brimming eek

Lapping shouldn't take more than 5 mins per valve though Took me about 2-3 hours to strip, relap, and rebuild the 16V head

depends how pitted the valve seats are. I spent yonks on a mini head:yuck:

what do you want doing to the 1275 head? Have you read vizards book, well worth a read. i did my 998 combustion chambers to vizards spec:yum:

something that may interest you all, had a bit of spare time so started making a lamp out of my old turbo cinq crank and flywheel

come to a complete hault again lol, credit crunch is getting to me thinking of going low blow just to get the car back on the road for a while, so looking for a 1.2 60 engine as cheap as possible to get me going for a while. so can get the car back on the road for the moment! put an ad up in classifieds but if anyone knows of anything going let me know!

low blow aint bad at all matey its about 1.6l speed and ultra reliable mine lasted ages on low blow till i decided i wanted hiboost lol

did a small amount today on cinq, moved engine put it on the stand and put the turbo sump on;

on a plus didnt notice this when i bought the engine its got a polished cam cover which is sweet , changing the headgasket tomorow and giving the engine a generally good cleanup, might even try to get it in and mounted tomorow as ive got surgery on monday, sucks!

glad i took engine apart as its ****ed... annoyed shall be taking it back to the bloke i got it from.

all show serious signs of wear one piston is orange and has melted around the top egdes and all show signs of det and wont clean up.. but thats not as bad as the head!

bit annoyed as i wanted to crack on, bloke had 3 1108 engines but said this one was a good one........... but also said if it wasnt any good to take it back and i could have one of the others, grrr

I assume all 3 engine have not had their head taken to check if it is any good.

So how do one tell if a engine is any goo without the head coming off?
