well valves are easy peasy, just time consuming and sore on the hands (unless you use a drill) your lucky you don't have 16 to do

Rgrinding valves is no problem...i used an battery powered drill. Cutting the seats for performance is not a DIY job though, if thats what your doing.
At present I need a rebore and rehone.....rehoning is not something i would try myself to be honest.. It probably/hopefully won't need it doing anyway

rightio stripped the 75 engine today and my 85 pistons turn up on monday so the ball is finally rolling
roped in the help of dannyhgt and h2dae aswell cheers lads!

Was that me snapping my adapter while trying to undo Alex's head bolts?
It's not too hard, only took us a couple of hours, though dismantling it is the easy bit

I totally agree with that! Taking my crank to be measured for new bearings today, as its not an easy job without the tools.

done a bit more today, removed cam had a nosey and started taking the valves out, till my spring compressor broke
oh well atleast i got 3 out and they all look good, will get another one tomorow and get the rest out and send the head off to be skimmed!

got another valve compressor and took the rest of my valves out yay also picked up my 85 engine and got my 16v pistons, pics;
almost naked head
whats left of the 16v engine
16v pistons, came up spanky
so onto regrinding valves etc yay then can send block to be honed and head to be skimmed, if anyone wants whats left of the 16v engine, make me a cheap offer and whats left is yors otherwise ill take it to be melted down.

You know, I don't think you really need any super special paint for the block -- just something reasonably oil resistant. Blue's new block is in white hammerite/smoothrite!

well my cam cover was 2 packed and it just came off as soon as oil/petrol hit it. thinking heat laquer may be the thing i need tbh
