Styling Wheels

Dont know if this is a strange question but ive been wondering so here goes.

Im sure people have noticed that over time your alloys lose the bling factor that they have when they're new and tend to dull down a bit, does anyone know of any products which keep them lookin new, i use all special alloy wheel cleaners and stuff but they still dont keep them new shiney.

Well all suggestions will be gratefully recieved, cheers

They only go dull because of all the crap that gets on them. Try a decent cutting polish. (not t-cut a decent cutting polish)

I've just used wonder wheel cleaner on my alloys, came up great.
Be warned it's strong stuff!!!

You try diluting it. It should be 10% wonder wheels the rest water.

Don't you have to be careful about getting that stuff on your brake disks, or is that something else??!

Won't make any difference to you brakes. Even diluted though I wouldn't leave it on the wheels. I do mine 2 at a time.

I use wonder wheels on mine, does bring them up quite spanking, i had wondered whether polish would be effective on them, or whether it'd just do sweet fa.

On a separate note, has anyone ever used any of maguires products, you see them advertised with all the show cars but ive never come across anyone that actually bought it and used it so wondered if its really worth the money you pay for the stuff, or if your just payin for the name????

Wonder wheels leaves nasty streaky white marks on my tyres, i use fairy liquid and they come up great!

I polish my tyres so no probs on that front, i thought fairy liquid did dull your car??? correct me if im wrong?

I dont use it on my car, just my alloys, it gets rid of the brake dust with ease.

I had to use tyre blacking loads of times until the white marks went, it annoyed the hell out of me!

i use the maguires tech wax polish stuff on my stilo and fink its ace, you dont get any of the white marks/buts other polish leave! as for the wheel i use a turtle wax wheel cleaner and brings them up real good, havent tryd any others yet!

Fairly Liquid contains salt to break down crap on your pots and pans.
Salt is not very good for your paintwork so becareful!

I just use an alloy wheel cleaner such as Halfords own or Tesco's have got a cleaning range out at the mo with alloy cleaner for £1.49 and its very good.
Always get my wheels clean. (FIAT 5 spoke 17's)

I found abit of T Cut Did the trick - Got rid of those dull marks you get after a while

Best stuff I used was that Cillit Bang cos I didn't know any different. Have to say that it returned my 12 spokes to showroom condition. No streaks, corrosion, messy tyres so that's my recommendation.

Brick cleaner is a strong version of all the cleaners you can buy.It doesnt touch the finish and cleans even the crappiest of wheels in seconds.Dangerous stuff though so glasses and gloves needed.(My brother owns a valeting business and he uses it on the worst jobs).Needs to be washed off well but is easy to do,leaves no streaks/residue.

Bit of elbow grease mate, brush, and some auto glym car polish works a treat for me mate, but be very careful as Stu said not to get it on the brakes too much, and wait for it too dry.

Your alloys will also look fresher if you maintain your tires, but using tyre cleaner, Carplan do a nice cheap one which I use....
