Technical What’s this?

Hi, wonder if anyone can help?

Was changing out the clutch slave cylinder when i noticed the round knob type thing in the yellow circle was loose on the attached picture. Does this matter? Can anyone tell me what it is please. Thanks in advance.

Think it's the gearbox breather dust cap.
