Technical Where does this Part go?

Hi All,

I changed my battery the other day and as I took my old battery out the battery well, this rubber component fell of something I cannot see where it came from. Can anybody help and maybe attach a picture of where it resides?

That looks like an exhaust hanger rubber. The slightly cleaner part around one end (the top, in the photo) usually has a strap around it.

There's just two or sometimes 3 hangers - one around the handbrake area, another by the rear fuel tank, and one behind the rear bumper. I'd guess yours came from the forward part of the car.. but you'll have to put it on stands, get underneath and have a look at the exhaust for any un-supported prongs.

That looks far too clean to have actually spent time supporting an exhaust.

Sometimes parts get dropped during assembly in the factory and just get left where they fell.

It came from under bonnet and close to where the Battery resides as I found it in the Battery container when I removed the Battery.

Take a photograph of the item only (without the hand or car) then do an image search on Google.

I'd have guessed at the airbox mounit or something similar in the engine bay

That part looks like it's never be where its supposed to have been .

Yes, managed to solve the mystery.....Its a component for the silencer block for the Exhaust has some of you correctly informed me. Now how that ended up in the battery tray is anyone's guess I can only assume it was dropped in there by mistake during the manufacture.

Could be somebody meant to fit it, placed it there and then forgot about it!
