Why are they so trusting?

Nothing we can say or do will make a hap,oth of difference, politicians haven't got a clue, they just get on a band wagon that sounds like they will get noticed and the public just pays the bill.
That rubbish about £300 off our bills has been quietly forgotten, they come up with ideas to save money on energy bill, conveniently forgetting that as it is privatised those companies will just jack up the unit costs when you use less units, so their share holders don't lose out.
One subject that really gets up my nose is what they cost us in transport costs. Look, I "get it" that they are public servants so if a journey is really necessary - and I think a lot more scrutiny is needed to establish what is and isn't "necessary" - then they shouldn't pay that out of their own pocket, of course not. But anything other than 2nd/tourist/whatever class is not sustainable or justified in these days of austerity. I've held quite senior positions, especially when I was a technical trainer, and had to travel to deliver courses but was never allowed anything other than the cheapest fare - and quite right too. Let them claim the cheapest fare and top it up from their own pockets if they want to travel posh!

I worked for local govt and never charged as much as the allowance. At one time, first class travel was allowed. My rule of thumb was to do what I would if paying for myself. I wasnt prepared to slum overnights but would stay in the cheapest acceptable clean place. 9 out of 10 times I bought grub in Tesco and ate at a fration of the cost of hotel meals. I can say, not once in 40 years did anyone say they noticed, or thanked me. General UK management abdication at its worst! Politicians excesses are maddening.

Many years a go I went on a Mazda course and stayed in a 3 star hotel the boss had booked in Tunbridge Wells, the bed was so uncomfortable I slept on the floor.
He also got me to drive up in a sales Lada, which I did at high speed.
The Course instructor's practice was to donate a load of fuel station receipts so the lads could get a few quid back to offset having to stay away unpaid. I pointed out they would be no good to me as the I had only got 22 mpg from the Lada so any less would have been hard to explain.;)

Lovely day out with daughter and grand daughter, plus one of dogs, fortunately now she has a first good pedal bike I have dug my £10 bike out of shed to keep up with her. It's an old rusty racing bike with straight bars etc. So nice and light, no effort involved so good for a wrinkly to keep up.
We had intended to have a pub lunch and pint at the half way point , however queues starting outside both entrances suggested not a good idea, plus the memory of a cold raw burger with hot melted cheese a month ago indicated forgoing that idea, hope the chef has improved!

The three day a week workouts at the gym are beginning to pay off. I took a short bike ride yesterday on one of the local trail systems.

After the initial quad burn, things loosened up and it was a pleasant 45 minute ride. The pic is of the Geneva Park Districts' Solstice Monument. Kinda sorta pays homage to Stonehenge.
The bike has quickly become one of my favorites. This is the one that I suffered through, adapting a Sachs 3 Speed hub to a Sturmey Archer 3 Speed shifter. So, it's a proper British Raleigh Sports frame with German hubs, rims, and brake levers, French saddle, American handlebar stem, Chinese seat pin, and God only knows about the handlebars. Hence, it's called the Blasphemer. The name was coined by a friend who restores old British bikes and it sort of stuck.

Not Liquorice as in Liquorice Allsorts/sweets?
The other was Heinz, as in Heinz 57 varieties of soup.:)

I'd love me some Allsorts.
Me too and separating the layers, but not the round ones with the blue dots.:)
Send them to me my favourites.
Oh no! for me it has to be Dolly Mixtures: https://oldestsweetshop.co.uk/produ...mWcorluj7NCzftZ9RKZvBMcnlFfhNRn13OEav5oCv7pp_ Grand daughter eats the jelly ones and I gobble up the rest! I can easily make myself sick with them! Getting more difficult to find now though.

The current state of my £70 road bike

Parts are arriving slowly but I have gone with Shimano Ultegra R8000 drive train which avoids the new models which need batteries and have unnecessary electronics.

I’ve also gone for hydraulic discs and there is a huge pair of boxes in the garage waiting till the little one is in bed containing new wheels.

All that is really holding progress up is the carbon handle bar I ordered which is taking ages and I can’t really set up the brakes or gear until I have the bars.

Is there more fun in the building or the riding?:)

Was out in my evening walk with tiny man...

This caught my eye

Doesn't look much but something about it pinged my interest.

First it should have alloys given the fogs...but it's old so forgivable. 4x matching Michelin's on a ratty car? Very hmm given the steels. Small lip spoiler? Wait a mo...

Get to the the back all standard but for 2 down played but large custom Stainless silencers either side.

Somehow I doubt it still has 240bhp...it was also AWD according to the badging I bet it is a proper sleeper.
