Walking the dog up the track / public footpath near out house today. A sugar beet harvester has been at large and you woudnt believe the mayhem. 30 years ago I had a load of bricks and stuff which I took up there and carefully broke up and levelled into the ruts that were there. Over the years they had slowly vanished but the track was much less rutted and soggy. Today the track has two nice clean hardore tracks as the mud on top has all gone Removed in the harvesters tyre treads. Staggering to see it exposed again after all these years, but nice to have something firm and clean to walk on some of the way. I had forgotten how much length it had repaired,

Cooool Maaaan. Above freezing in Norfolk but still dangerously icy in places.
We've had a fresh coating of snow each night since Wednesday/Thursday though it's meant to break tomorrow and go back to wet and miserable (yay....).
Wot's Snow? I have only seen a light frost twice since October in Sunny Devon and sun melted that off windscreen by 9:30, benefits of retirement, no early starts.
It's been down as far as -7 last few days, sun doesn't really melt it at that temperature..
Bloody been raining here since last night, now back to bog, only advantage is that today, at least, I don’t have to smash 4” of ice off the livestock troughs
Yep went for my usual Monday morning run today...a combination of slush/mud and driving rain.
Quite possibly the most miserable flipping combo imaginable...
It rained all night last night from the North East...
My front room has no water in it....this was not guaranteed recently so it would appear that after 3 attempts the house is water proof again.
Of course the dip down the road is a little flooded, and of course there's a dead BMW in it, because that's just like street furniture whenever there's a puddle.

It's snowing heavily here this morning. Buster dog did a double take at the white stuff when he stuck his head out the door before his AM poop. We should only see about an inch before it stops, not enough to bother shoveling and it will probably be gone by the time Mrs.Cheest and I get back from her MRI today.

Several things to smile about!!
Noop is reasonably clean again after having become properly dirty thanks to the sugar beet harvester leaving our lane swimming in mud.
His back window that was leaking,, probably as a result of his body repair a few months back is fixed with the help of a good dousing with Holts Seek n Seal. Unfortunatley this has slowly run out and left a massive streak down the tailgate. Carb cleaner shifted it easilytho and it has been lightly repolished so all seems good, A testiment to the Diamond brite treatments is had.
I had a call from my fuel supplier so shoved the towball on and went with the trailer to collect 550kg of briquettes and 70kg of smokeless. Appalling mud everywhere but Noop doesnt bat an eyelid at this load, I think one of the roads I use to avoid the main A roads is in fact just a farm track. It is still too easy to forget the trailer is there at all. It took 10 buckets of wter to get enough mud off the trailer and its cover to be able to unload.
My otside tap splitter has burst. Maybe the frost. Its annoying as these things are brass and not cheap. Having a look it seems the tap connecting side may be removanle with a large allen key. And indeed it was and its my Fiat sump plug tool thats the right size, so another 'nut' of another failed fitting has been used to repair it. Although not exactly right and I have to spin the whole thing onto the tap instead if tightening its nut, it works. Result as they are nearly £25 now.
Lastly we seem to be rat free again although this is after over £100 of poison and traps and a lot of messing about on the roof to stop up where I think they were getting in, Another result.

The Ural is running well and the weather has been wonderful, so in a rare feeling of Christmas Spirit yesterday, I hauled a case of Christmas Cheer to the guys at my favorite bicycle shop.

That reminded me of a case of beer in a local supermarket, labelled, "12 beers of Christmas". Not being a beer drinker, I've not looked closer, but I assume there are twelve different beers. If the intention is to use like an advent calendar, and have one a day, I doubt many will last that long. How many beer drinkers can resist the urge to try another.
Many years ago, I commented on the number of people in the supermarkets on Christmas eve, just buying beer. No fruit or vegetables, or other foodstuffs. A colleague described the beer as "last minute perishables", on the basis that if bought earlier, would not last until Christmas.

The Punto is finally in the garage. Still some clutter I need to clear out but at least I can get under the bonnet and start some work on it
