When I did work in the motor trade last (which will 20 years, next year) I was the only person who could properly fix the pressure washer we had. To get a company to come in and fix it would take weeks so I just set about doing it myself, which is why I was not to worried about sorting out this boiler, if anything it’s even less complex than a pressure washer. There is a screw for setting the air and another for setting the fuel pressure, I’ve got it running pretty sweet using the colour of the smoke out the exhaust as my guide but going to get a professional in to make sure it is running properly, the service guide has a very specific way of doing it using a CO meter
I started off with pressure washer electric and petrol just second hand at auctions then since then have had several steam cleaners including a quite powerful three phase one from a council commercial vehicle auction, which I ran from my 10hp phase convertor.
Often they didn't work when I bought them but I enjoyed the challenge.:)

I imagine it's the same satisfaction I get from reawakening old horticultural machines.

I have an old Danarm rotovator that originally had a Briggs and Stratton engine that I could never get to run long enough to do the job owing to the updraught carb that uses crankcase pressure to activate the diaphragm for the fuel supply inspite of loads of new parts, so I replaced with a more powerful Honda engine which allowed me to extend the tines, so it became quite a useful tool until that is the beginning of this year when after pulling the covers off it started first time, but I stupidly failed to check the oil level and it had run out during last Winter, so it seized. I stripped it and found the big end had failed as it uses a dip and splash system.
I was going to put another even bigger engine I have which runs fine a Loncin??? Cheap and cheerful Honda copy, but as it is bigger the drive belt is too far out to work, so I am back to rebuilding the Honda. I only thought about it today as I looked out into the garden where the wind and rain is howling down and the poor rotovator is laying under an old dumpy bag, but I suspect it will be several months before the inclination to do anything occurs, maybe in the Spring as the garage is so full of other rubbish/useful tools I can't see the floor.;)

<<^^I have a new forum name.

This was really only to make things more consistent across platforms especially when I’ve replied to people on here for them later to realise they’ve been watching my videos for a while.

Hopefully it won’t cause too much confusion
Fine by me. I've watched a few of your vids - very entertaining!

Not buying a Toyota any time soon, as you’ve shown already with yours there are still plenty of problem points

The main issue is I'm not in the mindset of a Toyota owner...

Which seems to be "if it starts then why mess with it?"

In theory none of it was mission critical 🤣

It's certainly some way from when I bought my MK1 and it overheated out on the Otterburn ranges first night out with it and I ended up limping it home pub to pub for liquids...

What I can say, pulling over in a layby with a bunch of mates to chat crap and then realising by the light of a friend's tail lights that it was very specifically raining under my front bumper...in February 50 miles from home and 20 miles from anywhere was memorable.

Of course that car was one year older than the Toyota at the time..but had 30k fewer miles on it.

View attachment 455451Im 6 weeks in, two more days and we will be watertight and done. But the weather is making it hard. I drained the heating two days ago and fitted a new radiator in the bathroom. Restarted and the thermostat failed, boiler went over heat and failed... Good man Lee, he came back, fitted new wireless stat fuses in the boiler and its going again. So even though we are still only half tiled Im happy it can deal with the cold snap. Ive done another 3m of brick stitching and the gable wall is only in two bits. We start electrics tomorrow so should have lights working. It will be possible to work there afterwards. Just need to find an arsepestos tip and get shot of that and we will be getting there. I must have 2 weeks for back recovery. Its hard enough walking, ladders are just so painful.
Let's hope it had a lid back on this weekend..
