What's made you smile today?

I laughed at myself yesterday... I went to remove the wheels of my car to see how the brake pads / discs are getting on (Can you tell lockdown has me bored and money building up to want to spend it?!).

Got out the tool kit from the spare wheel... jacked it up.

The bolt wrench thing was about 50% too small for the bolts on the wheel... "Damn French engineering, typical, I must be missing some sort of adapter!!!"

About an hour later, genuinely confused by this, I read the manual (sorry to men everywhere for letting us down by submitting to the manual).

..turns out the things I was trying to remove are just shiny covers that go over the bolts... :bang:

So, another life experience where it turns out I'm the idiot. :D

And the mechanic of the year goes to......:D

I remember some months ago taking my daily driver up to my garage which is several hundred yards away and parking it by the side. Taking the Coupe out of the garage for a blast/run ;) on returning, I thought to myself.....who the hell has parked by my garage!!!!!!!!! Oh yes it’s my daily....:bang::D

Number of times I've looked into the street and thought "there's someone in my spot!" when it's me..and it's the car I'm not currently in :ROFLMAO:

Always good when you have that moment of realisation of "oh so that's how that comes apart!" unfortunately the reason you know that is you are now looking at a real life exploded diagram of a now a very broken item. At least you know how it goes together for when you are fitting the replacement :D

Unashamed show off of a proud father. Thanks for looking.

Mitox? That interests me. I have a very old Kawasaki engined Danarm single sided blade hedge cutter. A wonderful but quite temperamental machine which only I seem to be able to start! My boy has a large privet hedge round his whole garden which is a good 8ft high and takes me the best part of a day to cut, which I tend to do twice a year. He then trims as needed with an electrical hedge trimmer but he's now on his 3rd one. Also I'm getting older and soon won't be able to handle it any more. I'd give him the Danarm but he can't get it to run so I've been asking around at out local horticultural repairs workshop and they are recommending the Mitox. So, how do you find your trimmer? Is it easy to start? What's spares availability and price like? Anything else to say about it?

Thanks for any advice you feel you might be able to give

I bought a Stihl hedge cutter around 1997. It's obviously way over spec for home use, but it's still going strong and should be handed to my son long before it gives up the ghost. The only thing I do is run it dry before putting away. The choke makes sure it gets the last few drips out. Every time and every spring it fires up just fine. Cost was 2x that of a good quality mains electric hedge cutter but with no cable to knock me off the step ladder it was an easy decision.
I had forgotten the extra cost well new before the first cut of the year was done.

This is a newer model but much the same as mine https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STIHL-HS...714037&hash=item2184cfc103:g:~sYAAOSwc2NgOino

Stihl cordless hedge cutter - amazing-
Lighter than petrol, just as powerful and battery lasts and lasts.
Friend of mine loves his stihl chainsaws and was persuaded to try the cordless hedge cutter, he can't fault it.

First long trip out alongside the i30N. I was behind it most of the time (unsurprisingly), but every single person he passed, I mean even women dog walkers and the elderly who you'd assume don't care about cars) turned their heads at the colour and looked twice.

Best part was we parked at a Sainsbury's and a car of girls shouted out to my friend 'I love your car' ....suddenly £25,000 might be worth it ;).

...Nah, I'm sure it's just the colour?!

It was fun though passing the beat out, blown out Golf's / Bora's / Leon's who have tried to imitate the bangs and the pops and 'show them how it's done' though :D

i30N is a compelling car for the money. I was tied between that an a M140i, Ended up with the latter

I went to a car show in London a few years go when the i30N came out, weirdest stand at the event as they had a load of blokes wearing engines for heads and dancing about seemingly for no reason.
