A radio feature triggered a childhood memory.
The Penny drop machine gave me a priceless life lesson. When I was little my family and I were on holiday in a static caravan beach resort (I think it was Yarmouth). I was down to my last five Pence and put them in a drop machine. Twelve Pence dropped and I put it almost straight back in. Then a rolled up £20 note dropped. I was ecstatic! That was enough for a hair cut, pub lunch and full tank of petrol so a lottery win by today's standards.
I opened the roll and it was a photocopy with "see cashier" written on the back. They gave me £20 worth of tokens that could only be used in their machines.
That is how politics works.
