What's made you not grumpy but not smile either today?

If you are taken to A&E in an ambulance, they woudl keep you in and do the op promptly. However, the paramedics, and A&E would need evidence on the ECG to show a recent heart attack, however mild. Not a good idea to overwork and promote one, but if after any effort you get a pain across the chest, it might be worth an ambulance call, or at least an A&E visit.

Sorry but unless you are literally having a heart attack and are "pre-alerted" in as the crew believe there is genuine danger to your life you'll sit in the waiting room with everyone else.

It's faster to turn up in someone else's car at the moment if you have the option in most places in the country. Even without blues...it's a one way trip versus an ambulance coming to you. Wait for an emergency ambulance was 2 to 3 hours my way none emergency 8-16...driving to the hospital 15 minutes. But people wrongly believe you get special treatment if you arrive in the van.

Maybe they asked first??

I'm sure your wife would stab you in the heart for the greater good, then they'd have to go in.
I'm hoping that your intentions with these posts was not the way they come off the page. They appear insensitive at best.
Firstly, anyone with the wit to ask to park across another's drive, would probably have seen the bigger picture, and noticed the abundance of space opposite. This poor decision was the result of 'tunnel vision', seeing the destination address, failing to see parking available on the other side of the road. I see this every day, and planning parking decisions is part of what I do when training delivery drivers.

I'm hoping your second comment was meant as humour. It does not initially appear that way.

Now I know whats wrong..... She must take pride in the surgical stab thats forensically undetectable! I should have spent more time in the kitchen then she wouldnt be so skilled with knives!

I just cant understand why we dont put the extra penny on tax and funf the service properly.. My sister in France cant understand our service. They are old and creaky but there just arn't any delays. What a stupid state we have allowed to develop in our health service.

As they say "Something must be done!"

I'm sure we'll be seeing improvements shortly now that we're putting an extra £350million a week in to the NHS.

Chin up. Hope its nothing major. Familiys.! Cant live with them wouldnt exist without them... Rock and hard place.....
I had an ill uncle who passed away a couple of weeks ago. Due to not being a blood relative, that entire side of the family have sod all to do with me, so as a result of this, I do not wish to go to the funeral. However, my parents are giving me a lot of grief for this.

This isn’t about money it’s about staffing in the last 2-4 years people have left the NHS like you wouldn’t believe. It’s partly money, nurses and paramedics are paid terribly, and as a result are now leaving in their droves.

Please do not call an ambulance unless you actually need one, as Steven pointed out it will not get you seen any quicker. It will not ensure an admission or operation, what will happen is, especially in east of England you may wait up to 10+ Hrs for the ambulance as a non emergency, when they come they can do an ECG, and not much else so take you to hospital, then along with a dozen other ambulances you’ll sit outside the NNUH, waiting hours to be off loaded and blocking that ambulance from going out to any other emergencies (which is why there are huge delays) at one point a few months back it was over 24 hours for a non emergency ambulance and if you were actually having a heart attack you might wait a few hours still to get an ambulance.

If you genuinely need one then call 999 otherwise get yourself to hospital.

I don’t understand why you’d need to go to america for a 30k op when there are plenty of private specialists here who would take your money off you?

In the US they will do what you ask but not necessarily what you need, at least here a private doctor will tell you what you actually need, however if you have heart failure then no £30k operation no matter where it’s done is going to reverse the damage and you might just be pissing your money away.

If you phone the hospital switch board someone would normally always answer, then ask to speak to the secretary of your consultant, if you can’t get answers that way then speak to you own GP and push them for some resolution.

The NNUH isn’t a specialist cardiac hospital so if in doubt push your gp to be referred somewhere else, papworth being our nearest cardiac specialist hospital, see if you could get a reduced wait being referred to the Paget or Ipswich (not Kings Lynn unless you want the roof to fall on you) if it’s just a stent issue, then there are plenty of other places you can go without waiting for Norwich, also bear in mind norwich has the only local PPCI suite which is where they do the emergency stents for heart attacks, if they have limited staff then it can have a knock on effect of cancelling planned procedures.

There is no current answer to this problem it’s very much a government issue, who ever is in government needs to start paying staff especially nurses their worth because right now it’s getting to the point they could go and work at a supermarket and earn more with a better work life balance. No government wants to increase the NHS wage bill. Same problem with airports they are not paying enough so not retaining staff. It’s a reoccurring problem all over the place we seem to be back to Victorian economics where the rich’s wealth is exploding while everyone else can’t afford the basics like food and heat

All sound advice. It helps to get a third party view or two as it reinforces the need to keep calm and hang on. Thankfully its not a cardiac stent, but after another bad day, even more thankfully I had a call today saying im now tagged as urgent so hopefully another few weeks and I will be good for a a few months more. There is still the ,matter of an time estimate for my op which is NHS only in the UK due to the cost of the clobber needed to do it. The queue may still growing and I have passed the point on this but dont wan to pay out if I am hetting nearer a longterm solution. I am moving to go abroadas soon as it can be organised and then NHS can take me off the waiting list which will be good for someone else. I can only urge everyone to write to their MPs the papers the BBC and the Fat twit masquarading as PM to pay the NHS staff a proper wage and sort this out before the NHS collapses and is gone.

Touche

It might be better value for money to offer someone a reasonable sum to dipatch our pathological liar and his gang of second rate yes people. I am pretty sure our dog would make a better job or running the country than this shower of criminally convicted covid spreaders. Barney is certainly more intelligent honourable and with better morals scuples and judgement. And he doesnt tell a pack of lies every time he opens his mouth! What exactly disqualifies someone from fitness for the job?

Please keep them all away from me....

Don't bother calling the BBC they will tell you the NHS is world class, nothing ever goes wrong and every worker is an angel.

Saying that, I have never had a problem though my overnight admission last September was incredibly slow and my problems were that much worse by the time I was seen. Thankfully I was released the following day pending tests.

And if you had noticed, I couldn’t care less what you (or most) think. My comments were so far from rude that you are clearly one of those who get offended by the slightest thing in tv or the internet, is it “snowflake” or “karen”, who knows, I lose track of it….

Oh deers it seems the £350 million that doeant exist is now matched by Mr Insensitive ignoramus who soon wont exist either. The first is a shame the second is cause for a massive party. Oh, perhaps a party might be deemd insensitive by the outgoing occupant of No Party(10) Downing St. That would be a shame.... At least this party would be for a good reason AND wouldnt be breaking the lockdown law followed by most of the other 70million who live in this country unlike him! If there is any justice he will NEVER be given a knighthood as a former PM.

His resignation at this point is too little far too damn late. Putting aside the fact that the blithering buffoon should never have become PM in the first place, the fact that he's been constantly flouting his own rules throughout the pandemic should've been reason enough for his resignation over a year ago!

Such a shame politicians aren't on performance related pay.

The tax payer would have got the last 3 years for "free".

At a cost of several 100bn to the economy but hey at least we wouldn't have to pay him as well.

To be fair...I can't be bothered to dig out a post I put up about BJ when he became prime minister. But he has absolutely 💯% delivered on my expectations of him.

May he remain a warning of what happens when you give the Conservatives power for all time. His personal failings were known long before he became prime minister or even Mayor of London yet it's taken this for the Conservative party to suddenly find its moral compass..I.e. if they don't get rid of him they will be voted out and they want to save their own arses.

I agree with a lot of what's been said above so I don't feel the need to comment further in that respect but what I do feel very annoyed indeed about is the vast amounts of money which it is emerging have been grossly irresponsibly spent. - Our Money I might add, over which we've had no say! I'm old now and won't be around for that many more years but I think it's scandalous that our youngsters now have this mill stone around their necks which will take decades to even make a dent in.

As always the Jonathan Pie posts sum up the view of the majority that reporters won’t say.
