What's made you not grumpy but not smile either today?

I don’t understand people who wear face shields only

Some have little choice, such as my father with COPD, who often has his oxygen tube in his nose.

Could probably get away without anything as could claim he’s exempt but that doesn’t sit right with him.

Frankly if he can manage even a visor there’s no excuse for others

Will need a Facebook account...but good lord.

I'd bet money on the Mercedes being a 4matic.

Ah yes seen that, you hear Pam from Gavin and Stacey sounding off in the background :p

Whilst there is a car sideways ahead of her, there is a lot of distance between them. There are tracks around her, so she's been there a while, as something else has gone past. I wonder if it was the sideways car, that lost control due to steering to get around her.

They're all to blame to some degree. Smart parked in a silly place, VW no aware of following car then passing on the left, Merc going too fast, and sounding his horn way too late, by that time, what did he think the VW could do?

Smart car had been visiting the ones with the camera, hence the parking position. Advice not to move was poor, better to go and clear the space. If she'd rolled away, there's a chance they would all have passed, close but no crash. "Rabbit in the headlights"

If in doubt you stop, she’s done the right thing, seems damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

In the eyes of the law and insurance she’s done nothing wrong and is clearly there to be seen, along with all those all over the road in front of her. The two in the wrong as the moving vehicles. The first for illegally going the wrong way around a keep left arrow, and the other for driving like a complete idiot!

Having spent a fair bit of time commuting in weather like this I tend to be of the opinion you let the vehicle ahead clear on a steep uphill or downhill section if possible before committing yourself.

It may be they end up at 90 degrees to the direction of travel halfway down and there's a good chance you aren't going to stop if they do. Same deal if they spin out half way up, you are now stuck too in the firing line with your momentum gone or worse with a car sliding back down at you.

Bad single car smash in the city centre a few days ago. Three men and a women all taken to hospital. Car smashed into a building and demolished the front. The woman was the driver, but was released from hospital later. One of the male passengers was a druggy from our village I later heard. He was so full of drugs they couldn’t operate and it’s likely he will lose a leg.

On the way to the graveyard today, passed a girl and her mum that I knew years ago standing by the road, with a blue/cyan coloured new C1 mounted in a ditch at the side of the road. They looked okay, just embarrassed... Never good seeing people in a situation like that. Was going to stop on the way back but they had somebody there by then.

Probably will be written off as a result, sad as it looked pretty new too!

I know it's a very very long shot but maybe he will get clean after the experience.

He was a knob Jack, he was a drug dealer/seller, ran around in fast expensive cars. He used to zoom around the village at all hours, the noise was horrendous, obviously de catted and big bore exhausts. He wound people up the wrong way, he was trouble, but worst of all he gave misery to kids as well as adults. I have no idea how the feds never caught up with him sooner. I consider myself a nice old mellow geezer, but, I’m not all that bothered that he is off the streets.

Leaving work yesterday..
There was a vehicle broken down at a mini roundabout in town
An RAC recovery truck with a SUV aboard..
Causing chaos.. cars going along the footpatch.. bigger stuff on wrong side of road.. wrong way around roundabout..!!
Not sure my 1248cc fiat wouldve dragged it far..

30 miles further on there was an independent Green Transit on the hard shoulder.. silver estate on the back

The woman with the estate didnt appear pleased..

Can you imagine..

You break down.. wait an hour for a truck

Do 20 mins. it breaks down.. you wait another hour

At least it was a dry day..

I had something similar many years ago - in 1990 in my Alfasud.

I was driving down the A40 from the Midlands to my fairly new job in Newport when, IIRC, a big end went and I had to call AA Relay. The timing of the breakdown meant I could coast into Monmouth services and wait there, but there was some misunderstanding between the AA call centre and Relay service which meant that they took ages to arrive - the driver claimed that it was because the name of the services had been given in Welsh. Perhaps true, perhaps an excuse.

We set off down the A449 and after a short distance the breakdown truck's engine blew and we had to pull over to wait for another, but I must have had access to a phone (probably in the truck) to phone in to work. The AA truck had done about 400,000 miles, and had had its engine replaced in the past.

I was urgently needed in work because of some testing problems (on a Jaguar XJS lighting dimmer), so work sent someone to collect me and the AA followed on later.

But are you sure you don't want to click here to discover the one pill that is saving marriages across the nation?! OR the one trick that can balance your weight and make your skin glow?! ;) ...and are you really going to give up your 5,000,000th visitor bonus that is patiently awaiting alongside the email from a Nigerian prince who needs somebody to split his inheritance fortune with?!

The Grump from the last few days..

The River Thames has burst its banks..
Closing my direct routes to work :(

Doubly annoying as I was trying to use our stinky GP MJ as its still got £20 of diesel in it wants using before its Ins runs out.

But the longer 'High Speed' alternative route means its just unhelthy.. so that it.. parked until I can be bothered with it.

Took an alternative route on the way home tonight .. used to be a major trunk road.. until it was bypassed by a raised dualcarriageway

The road surface was atrocious..
That certainly wouldnt be tolerated in the "2nd world" country where I reside.. ;)

Wifes in a similar boat for commuting...well hopefully not a boat but 2 of 3 routes out of the village flooded.

My thing for the day...crunchtime week, employer is replacing a system they have used for 20 years + with an alternative.

Been building everything in readiness for months but it's very real/stressful at the moment.
